Holy shit Texas that's my nickname. I was really really really confused how you knew who I was until I finally noticed the post you were referring too!
Then your statement that you do not care for music is incorrect. One does not have to download the latest vacuous pop travesty from iTunes to "enjoy music", it is all around us. I would truly worry about someone who found no enjoyment in at least some form of music from time to time, even if only singing off key in the shower.
As Nietzsche said: without music, life would be a mistake.
I would still stand by what I said. I don't care for music. I enjoy it at times, but sporadically and usually only as part of an activity instead for its own merit.
I disagree, I love my boyfriend, but some of the music he listens to, shouldn't exist as it is in my opinion, the banging and clashing of middle schoolers in their garage that failed at poetry.
Yo it's not cool to bash what people listen to. We all have music we don't like and that's fine, but music means a lot to some people so it can be very insulting to say it shouldn't exist.
It's usually pretty speedy, and a lot of it has symphonic sounds of some sort. The lead vocalist is almost always a male tenor with a fairly wide range, and the vocals are usually clean sounding (as opposed to the growls and scream vocals that metal is known for). Drummers tend to use double bass patterns (which I fucking love), and there's often heavy use of electronic keyboard stuff.
DragonForce, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Avantasia, Helloween, Alestorm, and Freedom Call are all power metal bands.
Yeah band names is what I was wondering. I'm into metal and hard rock but Helloween is the only band you listed I've heard. I do like them and Queen rocks of course. Would you put Savatage on that list?
Honestly I've never heard anything by them until now, but I skimmed a few albums on youtube just now, and it seems like their older stuff has a power metal feel to it. Also Hall of the Mountain King's symphonic parts definitely give it a power metal-ish sound.
Yeah I like 'em. Like I said, other than Helloween I had never heard of anything you listed. I was looking for a musical reference point. I've been on YouTube too and I gotta say I'm digging DragonForce and Blind Guardian.
Yeah, they're pretty sweet. If you give Alestorm a try, keep in mind it's more of a not-so-serious pirate-themed band, so you'll probably either love them for it or just find it ridiculous and silly. Maybe both.
You could also try Rhapsody of Fire if you want a heavy amount of symphonic stuff, but their vocalist can be off-putting because of his heavy accent.
What does that say about me?

Lol Just kidding.
