The story was her owner was old and died. So she ended up with her owners kid she was extremely sad over her owners death and then got out somehow and ended up in a shelter. I think the shelter called and said she was there or they went to look for a new dog and saw her there, something like that. Anyway, their reasoning for leaving her behind was that she was too depressed and they wanted a happy dog. It's rude to assume it was the dogs fault.

Excuse me? I didn't assume it was the dogs fault, I was just saying what the owners were probably thinking.
I worded it wrong. I didn't mean you yourself were doing it. A lot of the time people assume the dog had issues and that's why they ended up in a shelter and forget to think about how the humans could've been in the wrong. Dogs get put in shelters simply for being old or because people didn't realize puppies grow up and get big. So they waltz off to a shelter and go "I don't want it" without thinking about the consequences. That's a whole other living being they discard as trash because of the slightest inconvenience. Shelters get over populated and perfectly good pets get euthanized because of irresponsible people. Then when the newest breed trend pops up dogs get over bred and again end up getting tossed because people didn't bother to do proper research or take the proper steps towards training a dog. I'm not saying all dogs are perfect a lot do have behavior issues but it's completely possible to not only avoid but work on those problems by introducing good training.
He belonged to the grandfather but then the grandfather passed away. He became really said after that happened. He escaped and the neighbors brought him to the shelter. The family eant to adopt another dog and saw him there and he was really excited to see them, but they didn't want him because he was too sad
I read that story as well and it gave me some insight on the situation. It's still not a justification though. Not wanting a dog back because it's sad about its owner's death? I say they're bloody monsters.
The fact that they went to the shelter to look for another dog bothers me. I didn't see anything about whether or not the shelter let them take another one home but I really hope they didn't
I believe shelters are permitted by law to deny giving you a pet without giving a reason why. Technically, the shelter employees/management might even have a bad gut feeling about you so they decide not to give you a pet. I really, really hope that's what happened and the shelter employees decided not to give them another dog since they have a history of being heartless flesh husks.
I'M GONNA SHOCK A BITCH
