I'm a freshman in (a christian) high school that's gone through all my mandatory health classes and not once have they over talked about contraceptives or safe sex. yay more stds for everyone
Once they showed an image of a chick with an eye infection, and people were just like 'how tf did she get an std in her eye?!?' my answer was 'sharpshooting'
That was my proudest moment.
chlamidya causes eye infections but that's most common in newborns of infected mother that have given birth vaginally.
to be completely honest, your answer was not wrong at all.
That's perfect. In my school, boys and girls got separated and each group had an external teacher, us girls a woman and the boys a man. And then we could write anonymous questions as well. Honestly I think this is the best way to do it. No one gets shamed, no one feels embarrassed, you have a new teacher and a comfortable environment. It was so awesome, I really appreciate the way they did that to this day.
Edit: dammit, how did I land on a 2yr old post without noticing. Ah fuck it.
It's so sad to hear. And quite shocking that it doesn't seem to be too rare in the USA. We actually have sex Ed 2-3 times in my country's schooling system, along with most parents educating their kids on it as well.
I had the very strict Catholic version that involved vague references to "God's blessing received in the sanctity of marriage" and then skipped right to the part where there was a baby. Learnt all the basics from reading the sex scenes in the cheesy spy thrillers my Dad read.
That was my proudest moment.

When I was at school, we learnt it properly and the teacher let us write anonymous questions on post-its
