I do it because I like feeling the blood drain from my hand. I pretend like it's the soul of my hand leaving and then I pretend that it's my whole soul leaving my whole body so that I can actually be at peace with myself for once.
I was 13 years old at a slumber party with 4 other girls we all put in 5 bucks and who ever could keep their arm up the longest wins. 2 girls were out before 10 minutes were up. The 3rd gave up by accident when she went to stand up, she fell and used her arm to catch her. The last two was me and my friend who was throwing the party Jessica. See what the other girls didn't know was me and Jessica do this all the time so we we're going to be there for a while. I won when we all went to sleep and next morning my arm was still up she lowered hers in her sleep. We set up a camera to see who would drop first. It was one those old video cameras that needed a special tape that pretty much could only play on the camera.
Her arm went down around a hour after she fell asleep my arm was up all night. lmao best part was at some point her mom came in the room sees me with my arm up she calls my name no answer than goes to me and waves her hand in my face lol than she just slowly backed out lol
I asked my doctor about this because I would do it in my sleep. Apparently it's because you don't have your head elevated enough. Basically, I had a bad pillow
I'll do it randomly at my desk in the office. You'll see a bunch of cubicle walls then occasionally me, my hand raised like I'm waiting to ask a question
However most of the time I'm busy acing out imaginary scenarios, hand gestures and all.
