If any of you are a professor DON'T do this. Ask them a question instead. You'd be surprised how often they actually ARE listening. Trying to focus on a professor's face is sometimes WAY more distracting.
I've never ever had a professor care whether someone was paying attention or not. If you're doing jack shit, just make sure you're quiet and not bothering others. Not sure why you bother. If you're not going to pay attention, just leave. Almost all my classes didn't grade attendance and it's not like you can get detention for not being in class. It's college, not high school.
Pretty sure you could complain to someone. He doesn't know if you were paying attention or not. You could have been multitasking or something. Cause he's taking away absent and sick days for when you actually need them because you're not hanging on his every word.
It's the professors prerogative to install whatever attendance policy them want most of the time. As long as it's in the syllabus or stated in class/online/in the classes communication system them can do whatever they want with it
So...i used to play wow on my laptop during class. Gaming mouse and all clicking like a muhfugga and my professor didn't care because I was engaged even while playing
Nice.
