Also not just women were killed for witch craft. Alot of men were killed as well. But you know movies and books perfer to talk about how women were killed.
@funkmasterrex Well for one I said not only women were killed for "WITCH CRAFT" not they were witches. AND 2 witchs are not just women and warlocks are not just men. They are 2 separate types of magic. A woman can be a warlock and a man can be a witch. Yet again you can thank movies and books for insisting one is a boy only and one is a girl.
It is like saying only faries are boys and pixies are girls. 2 different creatures that are often thought to be the same.
Withcraft no but witch craft yes. It is still practiced today by many people. Is magic like Harry Potter real no but witch craft isn't about magic it is about potions and chants and charms that work like medicine and meditation and dream catchers do.
I didn't read the whole thread but I'm just gonna respond to the original comment @mrscollector yes men were accused of being witches too but the ratio was about 80:20 so it's not unreasonable to talk about it as a misogynistic issue. I recommend the video "Demonic Babies: A Guide for New Parents" by Ask A Mortician. It's (in my opinion) quite funny and mildly informative. The whole channel is pretty awesome imo.
The ratio of men to woman really isn't the point. It was the fact that the post was saying how Jesus did "magic" and it is called a mircle but if a woman does it she is killed for being a witch.
I was stating that not just woman were killed for being a witch craft. There were men as well. Which is what people tend to forget.
The modern world has a way of thinking, "If I say it than it is true."
I believe "if I look into it and have proof than it is true so I will say it."
If she wanted to come across as clever or for female rights she should have said:
"I need feminism because people tend to forget woman where part of historical events like fighting in the civil war, building the pyramids, and being pirates. And if we don't include these facts into history books we are missing out on inspiring many young woman to be what every they want."
Some people do practice forms of magic, and I find it very silly. Other people find it silly too, and those same people go home to pray to the magical sky god who created everything with an incantation spell. I find both those ideas silly and both of those people find it to be a deathly serious issue. Nobody finds their own beliefs silly, and they all deserve respect. But they also deserve to be told that they are being silly. You are allowed to believe in silly things, but we are also allowed to tell you how silly they are. How else will the silly people realize that they're being silly?
As to the issue of mysogony, men and women did suffer. The fact that one gender suffered more than another makes as much sense as worrying about the ethnicity of the suffered. I vote that we just go "People suffered which is a problem" and stop worrying about if the issue is less severe just becaused the affected people have minor differences like genitals or skin tone.
@mrscollector I think you're overthinking this silly joke. But I agree with you overall, this "one group is a perpetrator and the other is a victim" is very inaccurate for most historical events. But people often don't like to hear that wealthy black Americans also owned slaves or that men were also accused of being witches.
@guest trust me I am not over thinking the joke I just like to discuss things. And like I said in the beginning I am all for equal rights for men and women so to me when someone claims to be an equal rights fighter but only picks the parts that suit their argument it makes me think of how people will say vaccines kill people all due to just the world's smallest bit of proof exculding ALL other proof it doesn't.
I like to discuss not argue on both sides to show both sides can be right but both can be wrong. Not just ignore all parts that doesn't support your veiws.
Then we're on the same page, I like having discussions as well, and sorry for having misjudged you. I definitely agree on the gender equality part. I lose respect for people when they say they're for gender equality but then only discuss scantily clad women in video games and not for example the fact that there are VERY few domestic abuse shelters for men or how imbalanced divorces are when it comes to child custody.
Well, the mythologists would say otherwise, but there is *some* evidence for a historical Jesus (Even if he existed that doesn't make him a magician), but there is no evidence that he ever came back to life. I'm a bit too far gone to remember if there is any evidence that he was crucified, but if he was then he would have gone into a nameless dirt hole with other people. Crucifiction was very common, and the bodies were dumped into mass graves.
I personally don't believe Jesus ever existed as the Jesus described in the Bible is so far gone from any human that could have existed that it would be impossible to recognize the potential historical Jesus for the Jesus described in the mythology. You can only exaggerate something so far before the exaggeration becomes too different from the original story to be traced.
None of the Roman records mention a Jesus being crucified as far as I know. If someone can disprove that I'd love to actually see it, for curiosity. There really is nothing about him during the supposed time period besides the four accounts in the Bible... which may not even really be contemporary accounts... or even if contemporary either mistranslated or exaggerated.
If I remember correctly the three day resurrection concept predates Christianity just like Easter. It’s all taken from pagan mythology as part of a strategy to make them more comfortable for conversion or somesuch.
My comment however was a Monty Python reference.
I don't really mind conceding that a man named Jesus existed even if he doesn't. There's someone named Harry too, but that doesn't prove the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Sort of random note, pretty much my favorite part of Jesus's story is when he was chilling at a wedding and they ran out of wine so his mom pipes up "don't worry, my son's got this" Jesus "No, its not the right time" "Boy, I said YOU FIXING THIS" and he's just "yes ma'am" Son of God, and his first official miracle is because his mom wanted her wine and she didn't care about his "plan"

As opposed to those poor folks getting BBQd for practising withcraft, Jesus came back.
It is like saying only faries are boys and pixies are girls. 2 different creatures that are often thought to be the same.
Yeah that is wrong.
