its probably just that most people that write the omnipotent characters were once teenagers and were likely outcasts as teenagers that held that feeling in them until they got to the point where suddenly their works are popular
I dunno. I can really relate right now. I'm an activist in NGOs and every couple of years I just quit for a year or two for basically the same reasons as Dr Manhattan. You can only take so much of people's petty little intrigues getting in the way of the really important stuff.
Given Dr. Manhattan's powers, it's no wonder he's so fucking lonely. It makes perfect sense and in his monologue he lays out exactly why. He's standing still, basically stuck in time and free from it at the exact same time. He doesn't perceive the world the same way, he can't explain jack shit to anyone because of it. He's truly isolated. That's what makes it so funny that it's the Comedian who first notices it and realizes what it means.
Is it the hubris?
