They have to charge higher prices because they don't make money from ticket sales

I’m getting tired of people complaining about the price of movie theater snacks. Yes, they are expensive. Yes, everybody knows. Yes, they are expensive for a reason. Bring your own snacks! It is truly not that hard. Most movie theaters are always nearby grocery stores and tbh I think that’s on purpose. At Kroger’s or Ralph’s or Publix or wherever you go in America, you can get about 10 pounds worth of candy for less than $40. Shove that stuff in your purse, coat, pocket, backpack, up your sleeve, duct taped to your body, whatever. They don’t search your bags. They don’t ask if you have “contraband” or anything like that. They do not give a flying fuck about what you bring into the theater as long as you be quiet and respect other patrons. Bring in an entire bucket of friend chicken. It’s been done before. Bring in a trash bag full of chocolate sauce with a straw. Whatever. Just clean up after yourself and let other people enjoy the movie.

Uh. Yes. They do care if you bring in products from other stores. Most movie theaters will tell you that you either have to eat/drink it before going into the theater, or throw it away. I am sure this post will be devoted, but theaters most definitely do care. If they break policy, they get in trouble.

the theaters care. The people that work at the theater dont give a shit. They arent going to be actively looking. They arent going to be searching your stuff. They arent even going to say something if they see it but you're not being obvious. They dont care.

I have had people care and say I can't bring snacks in.

that means you were being obvious and not following your half of the unspoken code that says "if you arent being flagrant with it, we chill"
