In the newer trailer it doesn't quite look as weird. Not that I'll be seeing it anyway. Nothing against the original or the remake, I just hate seeing movies alone.
Why didn't they just make Will Smith bulk up a bit and ditch the blue skin?
I know that's deviating from the source by not making him blue, but nothing in Aladdin, to my knowledge, says he HAS to be blue.
I do like Terry Crews and I'd even go so far to say he'd be better for the part, except we'd be getting a very different (arguably funnier) genie. Will Smith is actually a very good actor and the genie is really a light-hearted character, which is a kind of humor Will Smith does well with. The biggest problem is that, at the end of the day, despite our feelings of nostalgia, none of the people in this conversation are actually the target demographic, it's the little kids that weren't around for it the first time.
In the new trailer he has his normal skin in some takes. I guess that's his "genie form" but when he dresses as human he is black? ImAlso, if he wasn't blue people would complain he's not blue
From what I could see, being blue is his true genie appearance, but when Aladdin becomes Prince Ali, it seems the genie looks like a normal human to help blend in. He might be posing as Aladdins entourage or personal servant
I haven't seen the movie yet (wait has it even come out yet?) but I think he looks okay. Personally I think it'd be cooler if he didn't have the blue paint on him and just wore blue clothing like on that one magazine cover/poster/whatever it was (it circulated around the internet for a bit a few weeks ago), but I quite like the design, especially that little bit below the necklace that looks like it's just holding on its own (it's probably part of the necklace but I like it anyway) and the translucent tattoos on his arms.
That said I'm against unoriginal remakes in general so I don't have high hopes for this. I just feel a bit sorry for Will Smith because I feel like he's going to get a lot of undeserved hate just because he can't fill Robin Williams's shoes, but I mean c'mon, nobody can.
Omg, nvm. I can't believe they're remaking Aladdin :^/
