Scrappy started turning white in 2004, presumably due to vitiligo, and died in 2017 at the age of 19.
So "a few years ago" (15yrs) might be a bit of an understatement.

He is beautiful. Reminds me a dog we had named Ashes. She looked lime a regular black cow dog some one dumped a but looks of gray Ash on. She was so pretty the gray and black and white mixture.

I recently saw a puppy, a mix of Labrador and Australian Shepherd. All dark gray with black dots all over, head of a Labrador, fur in between the two breeds lengthwise. One of the most beautiful dogs I saw so far.
