What about the mexican bee. I swear, fucking snowflakes complaining about everything. If you can't take a joke then don't watch the show, it's just that easy, the show it's all about parodies based on stereotypes in America...
No, they objected because he was set on general stereotypes associated to the average Indian gas station owner or bodega etc. The reasoning was that when Apu was launched there weren't many Indians portrayed in mainstream media in USA, hence, causing to take Apu as a default racial stereotype and many Indians encountering casual racism because of it. Even though lot has changed now and objecting to it is of no use.
I mean...is something really a stereotype if it’s true? I don’t think it’s racist/discriminatory to say a large number of Indians (and Middle-Easterners in general) own and operate gas stations and marts. Just google...or go to a larger variety of gas stations and marts.
Based on the non-resident Indians in USA or Immigrants , they always put up with this stereotype. I personally never faced it, not in my near 3 yr stay in USA

Whereas I have. I guess it depends where you go. Just from my perspective, I have seen it proven. That’s all I’m saying.
I haven't watched any new Simpsons in a very long time, but Apu is an immigrant who started his own business and is a staple in the town. I get that he may be insensitive to some, but this call more for a character evolution than an flat out removal.
Quite honestly? This is too much. The Simpsons is a show that's been going on ever since I can remember. I understand that people are upset about this, but it's a continuity that I don't think ever really goes away. The show itself is based off of stereotypes in America. There are already so many racist stereotypes that the show portrays for the use of comedic content. If it bothers you to watch it, don't watch it. If his portrayal is a problem, you'd have to get rid of every other character that has been remotely racist, then. Making a big deal out of something so small is a sure fire way to perpetuate that stereotype more and make it seem even MORE true. Some battles are not to be fought. Extend your view on it, yes, but don't force the show's hand. It's a comedy. Treat it as such.

I don't agree with their complaints but I have a feeling it hits closer to home because Apu's character is brown vs. being yellow like a lot of the other stereotypical characters. I guess that character design decision makes it seem less cartoony/jokey? I dunno. I love all these characters and I grew up with them, a lot of us did. Some people really just have to get the sticks out of their asses.
I agree with you. The color of the character, if anything, I think, should be fixed to appease whomever is calling for a removal, but a removal of the entire character is too much.

What I don't get is why they're complaining about this character when the show is already 30 YEARS OLD. Why are they asking for any sort of change or removal NOW?
Also if they did change his color to yellow people would call it white washing and probably get mad all over again. You can never win.
That's what I'm wondering, too. I looked up "Apu Stereotype", and imagine my surprise when I found out there's a man making a MOVIE about this issue? This is too much.
Apu is the most successful character on the show technically. He owns the Quik-E Mart, has a wife and children, and he give Homer wise advice from time to time. So i think anyone who is "offended" by his presence needs to sit the fuck down and look at real problems in the world
