It was a political candidate committing Campaign finance violations in order to collude with high ranking Russian officials to generate a smear document to change the outcome of the election... but enough about Hillary...
So smart. Wow. Except... a coup is a sudden and violent take over- done illegally. What illegal actions were undertaken? Did they illegal get warrants and illegally go through due process? Did they lurk in the shadows and spring all this suddenly as a trap? No genius. They announced an investigation into supposed wrong doing and then carried said investigation to its conclusion. Oh... and “secret?” Really? It’s conspiracy now when government agencies or individuals work together on an open investigation? Or is it only conspiracy when the left works together..?
Sadly, if a person chooses to revel in their ignorance we can’t do much for them. People have to want to learn and grow and expand their minds and be better than they are- it can’t be forced on them. But, I look at it like this- if you’re on a bus full of hooting baboons you may not be able to get them all to speak eloquently or when appropriate, they may never be capable of behaving well enough for tea with the queen- but if you just let them jabber and do their thing because you can’t be 100% successful- before long there will be shit and all manner of bodily fluids all over the bus and everyone else in it. So may as well try to train the baboons even if their intelligence is limited by their nature.
Yeah I wasnt trying to prove a point or be funny. It isnt really a secret that a large portion of the FS user base is very liberal. Downvoting me into oblivion demonstrates more over sensitivity on your part versus me really doing anything wrong?
Holy shit, did someone just seriously claim that funsub is conservative???
Bruh. The only person on here I would even consider to be outright conservative is @famousone. And even he might disagree in some respects.
I am a centrist, as far as I can tell so is @xvarnah. Firmlee and shik were also center before they disappeared.
guest_ is a definite leftie, but at least he is sane and articulate which I can respect. And no one else is consistently involed in political debates as far I can see, but the conservative opinions are primarily the ones downvoted into oblivion. And when people who normally don;t talk do get involved, they are pretty much always arguing from the left.

It is illegal when the don't tell the FISA court that the "evidence" they used to ask for the wiretap (which has been confirmed to have happened) was bought and paid for by Hillary and the dnc (which was also written by an untrusted source that the FBI decided not to use anymore). It is also illegal when a sitting president (Obama) knows about and allowed a wiretap to be placed within a political opponents campaign.
@vitklim- I’m human leaning and freedom leaning- not leftist- just what the center used to be before the far right and left made “center” anyone who didn’t think men/women should be enslaved or the government should either look like mad max or 1984. I lean “left” on many issues and “right” on many others. My values are informed by an idea that the maximum number of people should be given the maximum autonomy of choice for themselves while protecting others rights to do the same, and that as human beings we should aspire to a world where people are taken care of. The fact you consider me “left” might simply be that you are farther “right” on a spectrum than I am, you could suggest I am lefter than I realize but then the obvious counter would be you are farther right than you realize.
But for the record I do not consider myself a leftist and support capitalism, the military, gun rights, protection of the United States and many nuanced issues. But I do not believe in using an iron fist or a sword as the best way to solve every problem, but am not a pacifist as violence is a useful and necessary tool until we can evolve as humans.
@jd1984- oh? What court ruled this? Who was convicted? Surely Obama and those involved of illegal activity have been sent to trial and convicted? Or.... have they? Wasn’t it just a few months back we were dealing with probes into wrong doing with Trump, and hard leftists were already calling for his head before there had been a completed report? I recall many, especially on the right were quite upset by this fact. You wouldn’t happen to be doing the same thing now would you? Convicting people of a crime based on third party reports in news and opinions of talk show hosts before an actual inquiry were completed and wrong doing was proven as well as the extent of who was or wasn’t involved and how... would you?
@vitklim tbh I have no idea what I am haha. It never seemed important. I hate politics, so I tend to vote for the people I think are likely to do the least amount of damage, which more often than not tends to lean toward the conservative party (bearing in mind I'm Canadian). But as to where I (or anyone) actually falls on the spectrum - I'll have to let other people worry about that. :P
'
I will say I can't honestly see a reason why anyone would want to pick one side and stand with them on all issues, even when they're wrong.
@guest_ you are definitely more to the left than I am, at least on the cultural axis. Speaking of which, it would be interesting if you and others took a political compass test and posted the results on here.
.
For example, my results: 0.0 on the economic left/right scale and -2.15 on the social libertarian/authoritarian scale. Which means I'm deadset in the centre of economic issues, and libertarian in regards to many social issues. Which is why I consider myself to be the resident centrist.
@vitklim- Economic Left/Right: -1.0
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.69
But to be fair many of the questions I had to answer literally- whereas my answers vary depending on context. I found it entertaining but flawed, as many answers used absolute language like “never” or “always” which by default I must disagree with as very few things are “never” or “always,” and certain questions spoke of feelings of others, like “should people expect...” wether a person should or shouldn’t expect a thing is based on experience, and generally in an ultimate sense- we should expect to die someday and that’s about it for what we should expect. We certainly shouldn’t expect much or anything from other people, as people vary greatly, and follow their own compass- not ours.
So if phrased such as: “should society xyz...” we get a clearer picture. As well as phrasing absolutes in a specific context- however it’s less a mater of politics and more philosophy with many things. For instance- “everything should be free and everyone should have what they want and need and we should all be nice and never cause harm to others” is a philosophy, as it isn’t realistically achieved in current society with current technology- and one of the only reasons to oppose that would be a personal philosophy of self reliance or of a sense of “justice” that a person must “earn” all they have. However that too is unrealistic and isn’t a political stance but a philosophical one which would inform ones politics.
So ultimately it was entertaining- but I can’t say that I would certify the test, especially due to the phrasing of the questions which don’t reflect my stance on individual issues, but paint in broad strokes- similar to an assumption that anyone who is religious opposes same sex couples, or anyone who supports same sex couples must also support non binary gender. To be accurate in my mind the test would need to be more precise and much longer. But it at least is some sort of metric and as you suspected I lean left by a slight margin.

Huh. A bit different than I thought.
Yeah, the test is pretty faulty in the way the questions are posed, and is rather unbalanced. So it's not too credible.
But you can also look into Jonathan Haidt's research into the moral foundations if you want to figure out more. His book "The Righteous Mind" is a great insight into the psychology behind politics, and he is still working in the area.
yourmorals.org if you want to participate in his research, plus see how people from different political leanings score on different aspects.
I think I should be able to post my results once the power outage is over. Australia's electricity is such shite sometimes.
Thank you for the info. It seems rather interesting. Sorry to hear about your power. Ours is usually pretty good here but lately there’s been a lot of power and internet outages just around my neighborhood because of high winds. So I know the feeling.
@guest_ Here's the results, as mentioned.

As you can see I score pretty closely to conservatives and libertarians on the majority of the foundations. With the obvious exception for the Care foundation, becuase I am a really unempathetic person. And that's not even self-deprecation, I know that I am. And most other things fall in line with my expectations too.
