No offense, but regardless on your stance on gun control, the fact that you have reached a point where you're blased by mass shootings is terrifying. wtf is wrong with the USA that mass shootings are "normal" ?
Being shocked and horrified gets exhausting. Fact is: crime is down, fewer people are dying of preventable causes, and the country is in pretty great shape, all things considered.
I mean... you can't UNWISH the guns. They're out there. The government isn't a genie. The populace does not share their intent. Even if the government tried to remove all the guns it wouldn't work. Toothpaste doesn't go back in the tube no matter how much you oversimplify the issue.
Tax speech, literacy, access to media, attending religious services or praying individually, anyone who pleads the 5th, trial by jury, habeas corpus, voting, and breathing by 10000% while you're at it.
I'll be reloading rounds, smuggling, and selling for a premium. Eat your heart out, Mafia, there's a new Don in town.
I mean, technically it's the combination of guns and ammunition and the human variable.
.
Take away any one of the three and you end up with either a loaded gun and no one to fire, an unloaded gun that can't fire, or a human with a box of bullets.
.
Taking away two of the three and you end up with a weapon that you can only really use by throwing it at someone - and neither guns, bullets, or humans are overly effective at large scale assaults when thrown.
.
I personally don't see why assault weapons ever actually became a thing your average Joe could get his hands on. Maybe someone knows something I don't, but as far as I know assault weapons don't really have any use outside of shooting other humans in rapid succession
To expand on what @xvarnah said it would be pretty comical to watch a guy with and empty gun and a guy with a box of bullets hitting each other with their item.
@famousone in a military scenario absolutely. In a civilian scenario I disagree that there's any real reason Joe Shmoe would need to kill that many people that quickly. A normal gun should be more than sufficient for day to day gun range activity, protection, and hunting. Not that people don't still manage mass shootings with regular guns, but it does take a smidge more effort.
.
@scatmandingo my brain more conjured the imagery of someone literally just throwing the empty gun at a person and trying to whack them in the head haha.
The Stoner AR-15 and it's derivatives are intuitive, forgiving, and modular.
Standard magazines allow for suppressive fire and as many follow-up shots as you need. In case of a miss, and in case the small round doesn't drop your target. Also useful for fighting off multiple assailants, as a Google search will show you some children have been forced to do.
As it is in common use, and weapons similar to it have existed for over a century, it is a normal weapon, except for it's small and weak bullet, when compared to it's predecessors and contemporaries.
Do you know anything about weapons systems?
