Personally- wether I can “appreciate,” find attractive, or even not be off put by any “body modification” is a case by case thing- and even at that I find them all fairly impractical. Something to cost money, potentially get infected or snagged in day to day life or ripped out in a fight. But- she obviously likes it. So I’m not gonna judge her on it or make fun of her. I wouldn’t do it, I don’t know or understand her reasons, but I’m sure I do things she wouldn’t understand either. I realized long ago I don’t have to find everyone on earth attractive or want to have a relationship or sex with them. Likewise not everyone has to like the way we look. But I just don’t believe in disrespecting people on their looks.
I feel the same way because the more you listen to people the more you realize that just as you have your reasons for YOUR version of normal, they have their reasons for THEIR version of normal. I think the easiest example to take would be food. Most countries would have some sort of strange food item that they absolutely love but other people won’t even try cause it’s so far from their norm. My new rule to live by is, as long as a person doesn’t harm another person in any way - they are free to think, do and decorate as they please.
I like that outlook. We may not all want the same things in life but we all tend to want the same thing. That is to live our lives and enjoy our time on earth. The details of what that means to us are all different- but with a tiny effort we can stay out of peoples ability to conduct their affairs and if they do the same for us- we can all largely enjoy our lives.
the piercings hmm, I lowkey have a crazy interest into the thing so although her taste is something else, imma just ignore it.
Bt those eyebrows are illegal, and she needs to get arrested for thinking that's okay.
edit: and the eyeshadow too, someone gets this girl a blending brush and a mirror!
I'm not saying anyone shouldn't do something just because others say they shouldn't. But there is no question that this is pretty much universally unattractive. This is the piercing equivalent of self-harm, or pedophilia, or wanting someone to poop on you during sex. There's a line between saying "I've got a kink" and "I need help before I make a mistake." I'm sure I'll catch a couple downvotes for this but there's nothing tribal or artistic or unique about just thinking of the absolute most drastic and weird thing you can do to your face and running with it
I wouldn’t DV you for it. I just can’t quite back your logic even if you make some good observations. Consider that throughout history things like foot binding or make up which was physically harmful or dangerous was considered beautiful. That even to this day people engage in practices considered by and large as close to “universally” attractive as one might get (in a world where absolutes are usually false), involving chemicals and processes with harm or significant risk to health for the purpose of beauty or self confidence.
We could easily say the same thing of a person who mutilates their cuticles, who uses waist trainers and the like or gets surgeries and procedures like Botox or liposuction or breast implants. Those things happen to be often considered beautiful by most people and tend to be popularly received and warmly welcomed- but are not more or less a mutilation and modification of the body with significant personal risk and restriction.
Most people on steroids happen to not be gigantic vascular behemoths. They’re gym rats, instagram models and bar “bros” and “girls” and might be using steroids to get a flat stomach, abs, just be a little bigger than average and for tone and fullness. But make no mistake- many are at as great or even greater risks of peril from their use as some gigantic hulk that no sane person would believe was natural. Yet while they may face concern or even distaste from people for their methods- people tend to love the look and paradoxically we tend to ask for it- demand that those in the spot light carry at all tones a physique and look which by and large is impractical or impossible without such means.
So the fact that I, or you, or the best universe finds it unattractive- and even the fact it carries risks- I can’t say that is a case to be made against the practice. Riding motorcycles is quite a risky thing too- and those interested in just the image or the speed or “thrill” of the practice are inherently far more at risk than those who pursue it for other ends. But I can’t tsk tsk st every rider I see because of that. They’re adults and I must trust they’ve reviewed the matter and made a decision to suit them for whatever reasons posses them.
