You've got a point. I don't think the argument here though is that the two girls aren't brave, but that they're implying that people that have fought in wars aren't brave.

Sure, they're both brave in different ways, but they are also orders of magnitude apart in terms of the bravery required.

@dave99 I disagree as terms of bravery vary for different people. For some, running onto a battlefield takes little bravery, while others taking a stand knowing that you're going to lose your entire family and your life standing up for your basic human right takes incredible bravery.

By the same logic, for some people taking a stand knowing that you're going to lose your entire family and your life standing up for your basic human rights doesn't take much bravery

And regarding your point about how in some places the consequences for public homosexuality are worse, getting blown the hell up or shot has the same consequences anywhere.

No one is arguing that what the women are doing isn't brave, you trying to argue that someone fighting in a war isn't brave is downright offensive

I'm talking to you, you're literally saying people fighting in a war aren't brave. If you're a coward you flee, you go somewhere you don't have to fight. No one here is saying that overt gays aren't brave, what I'm saying is just because they are brave doesn't mean someone fighting in a war isn't. Those three messages I typed in a row were all in response to the one above it, you need to reread what you said and see if maybe your phrasing wasn't how you meant it, because you just offended the shit out of a lot of people

Actually that's not what I said at all. Did I offend the shit out of a lot of people or just you? I never said anything about cowardice or fleeing or anything about going somewhere where you don't have to fight. The phrase of "some people say" means that some people say and not necessarily the person saying it. What I said was that both photos contain equally brave people especially depending on where you live. Doesn't mean that either is cowardly in either way.

Yes, and the men who have said that actually ran onto a battlefield. They think that it took little bravery because they just did it without any thought, hence using the words "For some". Doesn't mean anyone ran away from it.
