Here. Pluto never was not a planet though, just a dwarf planet. Also, this post is BS. It's just Jim Bridenstine said he thinks Pluto is a planet. That happened nearly a month ago.
That’s not the issue though- it’s still not cleared its orbit because it’s simply not big and strong enough for that (yet). Like Mercury is small compared to other planets but it’s not practically in an asteroid belt because it eliminated its opponents over time. For Pluto, it still crosses so much other stuff unlike the other planets. If we were to ignore that, we’d have over a dozen planets. I love Pluto but we gotta set the boundary somewhere. I will always list it alongside the planets but it’s not actually one
I know it hasn't cleared it's orbit, that's kind of why I alluded to a kid. It's still gaining mass and who knows, in a billion years it might have cleared it's orbit and then it's grown up.
Pluto... Pluto stopped being a planet because they changed what “Planet” means. Pluto didn’t change. Our understanding of Pluto changed slightly (9 years after it was already declassified as a planet.) Pluto was never believed to have much mass- it is less than we thought it seems, but it was never massive or large in size. Smaller than our moon. But we found bigger orbital objects out in the belt. So a decision needed to be made. Either we start adding planets; or we reclassify what it means to be a planet. We couldn’t make that definition keep Pluto without adding planets. So wether it “is” a planet or not is questionable- it is not classified as a planet along with at least 12 or so siblings.
It’s just one dude at NASA saying he felt like Pluto was a planet, this doesn’t mean it’s a planet again. There is no credible source because this information is false
Jim Bridenstine, who is the current administrator of NASA (appointed by Trump in 2017), has stated he thinks Pluto is a planet. His opinions don't have much pull in the scientific world, though.

In all seriousness, I think Trump is garbage, but "appointed by Trump" is a new cheap way to discredit someone who may be just as qualified as their colleagues.
In fairness- the “appointed by Trump” isn’t really needed or relevant- it may have just been provided for additional information but it reads as though it implies what unkle reads it to. That said: also in fairness- They may be “qualified,” a lady who drove across country in a diaper to murder her lover was “qualified” enough to be an astronaut. Many serial Killers have med school or nursing degrees and before conviction we’re qualified to practice. Ted Bundy was qualified to be a mental health therapist and the scientists who crashed a space probe into mars were all qualified as were the engineers of several bridge disasters.
So to be fair to the point- it may have nothing to do with the matter that Trump appointed a person, but then being “qualified” is also not strictly the matter of discussion either. I don’t want a qualified surgeon, I want a good surgeon. I don’t want just a qualified pilot, I want a good one. And well- when you get the approval of a guy who thinks windmill noise causes cancer, to a science post... when you get an appointment to a leadership position by a guy who seems to have a lot of guys he thinks are qualified get sent to prison... and is himself now and in the past the subject of investigation for such crimes.... well... that might actually reflect on your qualifications.
I mean- if a good percentage of people I recommend to my job or say are friends of mine end up getting arrested for misconduct or theft... how many have to go to jail before you might consider my recommendations to be a liability and not an asset? And if I myself were (once again) under investigation- with enough credibility to bring impeachment proceedings- would that also perhaps influence your perceptions? If I were on trail for home burglaries and loads of my business associates had been convicted for it already; might you be reluctant to take my advice on home security installers?
But again- in fairness,y perspective might be the best one to know exactly who has a good security system. Or.... I could be sending you more of my “associates” who install systems with backdoors so that me and my pals can do our thing... like I’m up on charges for and a reasonable percentage of other installers I have recommended have been convicted of. I suppose it’s a risk one can choose to take or not. But regardless- we can’t judge a person solely on who their friends or supporters are.
Er, I didn't mean to impinge on your political sensibilities, @unklethan. Sorry to trigger you. My intent wasn't to drag Trump as a person into this; at all. I only mentioned Mr. Bridenstine was appointed because I think it's relevant that people know the administrator of NASA doesn't necessarily "rise through the ranks" with an illustrious and distinguished science background, but simply that NASA administrators are appointed by the President, whomever it may be at the time, whatever your political views.

Thanks, @guest_, for clarifying my meaning with the "good" vs. "qualified" discussion.
