Gender is a state of mind...but, there are only two sexes. Logically, I believe that one can define themselves in 4 ways: male, female, fluid, and neither. Why? One can feel highly masculine, feminine, a mixture, or neither. I, myself was quite androgynous as a teen (Now, I'm super masculine). I've also felt "undetermined". These felt natural, and in no way forced. I believe most people experience something like this, even if it's a passing thought. Any other gender is a fabrication. These are the only ones that are solid states of mind. Anything further is a grab at unnecessary uniqueness for show. That's just my two cents. How can one identify outside of human perameters? I personally don't understand it. I'm not saying I'm right, and I'm not saying everyone's realities are the same...I'm only working within logical definitions by physiological nature. I'm not going to touch on why people identify as one way, when clearly, they live their lives as another. That's where it gets messy.

Again, this is my opinion based on biology, psychology, observation, and logic. If you have a different view, then it's simply your view.

I do feel like people try to figure out labels for every minor individuality they have to get that internet clout

i mean technically yes, dude chick fluid and neither would encompass all possibilities really in the same way as "everything in the world is either a potato or not a potato." Sadly nothing in the world is as simple as a checklist of options. Even the binary 1s and 0s in a computer aren't technically binary in that the physical switches are functionally capable of being somewhere between 1 and 0, just not on purpose.

@creativedragonbaby There's a difference between giving a label to yourself and trying to label everyone else. There's a lot of historical figures that we think may have been trans, for example the Roman Emperor Heliogabalus. They seem to have been by today's standards- they offered vast sums of money to anyone who could give them female genitalia. But we can't just put a label on someone who didn't identify themselves as such. There's nothing wrong with creating new labels or trying to document well known ones. There is little to gain from internet clout and a lot to lose- posts like this prove that there is much to lose in terms of internet clout. People don't pretend to be trans often because being trans is rough, even in progressive countries.

People DO pretend to be trans. And yes, they do it for clout. Do some research, or just oberve a bit deeper. We aren't just fabricating this for fun, obviously we have both seen it in action. It's no different than people who diagnose themselves with every mental illness for attention.

I said they don't do it *often*. There are few cases in comparison to the amount of trans people that there are. Sometimes I see someone say "as a trans person I think *something transphobic*" and it doesn't seem legitimate. Sometimes they might do it just for clout. Sometimes someone is just questioning and eventually decides that they aren't trans. But we can't go around being suspicious of everyone, aggressively questioning their possible motives.

Oh, no I totally agree. I guess it was a miscommunication. No biggie. Yes, we can't have everyone under scrutiny for a couple of bad apples.
