Steve Irwin didn't blame the animal for it. His own family doesn't blame the animal or the species. Everyone admitted Steve Harmon just got to close. Even Steve Irwin himself predicted that one day an animal would kill him.

I was waiting for "that's amo-ray" or something about someone not killing himself, pleased to say I'm wrong.

All valid points on this comment thread, also stingrays also only attack when they are threatened much like how we would attack a lion if it decided to come towards and corner us. In situations where they are used to human contact they are actually very sweet flappy pancakes that sometimes will come and boop into you.

Well it's ray-cist to blame all stingrays for the action of one though, right?
