That guy is Alex Jones and he once proclaimed there were chemicals in the water turning the frogs gay.
The frogs were switching sexes (literally, not preference) because the toxins were killing off tadpoles at an increased rate. As a self-correcting system, the frogs started to switch sexes as to bring closer male:female ratio, thus increasing the potential to breed, and leading to more tadpoles, using the increase in population to counteract the toxins that were killing off tadpoles unnecessarily. Whatever it is that makes the frogs switch sex is debatable, was it the toxins themselves? Was it a conscious notice of the tadpoles dying? Was it a subconscious reaction? Do they consciously switch sexes or is that decided subconsciously? Is there something in their genome that triggers it? Why is it so spontaneous? Do they consciously decide who switches? Is THAT subconscious? Is it triggered by hormones? We don't know, but those are all valid questions with fascinating answers if we
ever figure the answers out...
But the frogs weren't turning gay and they never were, so it really just sounds like he's linking pollution to homosexuality... in frogs.
If that explanation wasn't needed, and the "I'm kinda retarded" was you being Alex Jones, I apologize for that assumption, but regardless, I'm leaving what I posted just in case somebody doesn't know the story.

Anyway, at least the story of it is there.
