Now I'm just brainstorming here, OK?
Right now my tax rate is about 25% of my income. Fine. BUT I don't care for how the money is being spent. There needs to be more focus on maintaining roads, bridges and so on. Right now the only thing I can do is vote for my favorite politician and watch as they become caught up in political gridlock.
Instead of paying 25% of my income can I instead pay in 30% of what I make and I personally decide where 15% of it goes. Want the military to have more toys? Fine, back them up, want a wall? Chip in boyo. Want a great space program? Go the extra step.
I just suggest this so that there isn't quite the pressure to put in a politician that runs on a strong message that leaves others feeling like they can't do much until the next election.
