Have y'all heard of dopamine detox? It's super intriguing but I don't think I could do it. Basically you do nothing which is fun to you for a whole day, that way smaller tasks and old hobbies become fun again.
A german youtuber went to the extreme and did it for a whole week (during quarantine. The week before he avoided all screens - phone, laptop, TV and even reading, but still had music and experimented with fun cooking)
He reported that his detox was so extreme that he had dopamine rushes while doing the dishes.
That's funny when I was a kid my dad would often say "you're bored? Good. It's important to be bored from times to times." and the punishment of choice when he caught me doing something bad was to stand in a corner and do nothing for like an hour. So it ended up being kind of a habit and I've kept cultivating boredom all my life because it "resets" my mind to a calm and happy state. The term "dopamine detox" makes it sound so much more medical though!
I mean when I was too bored and vocal about it he also told me to "tell myself stories" and now I write some, so I'd say it also boosts creativity.
Lockdown is so boring
