By most accounting our plague has already infected more people than estimates say would have been the population of Egypt at the time- possibly that entire section of the world, and killed what would be about 25-30% of their population by conservative estimates. But we might not want to ignore how a proud, ignorant, spiteful, cruel and selfish ruler was behind those plagues, and how had he taken them seriously and responded swiftly and taken proper action, the plagues could have been stopped much sooner. We also mustn’t forget that in part, the plagues were punishment for this rulers treatment and cruelty to the immigrants, and especially their children, in his lands. So I guess I can support this comparison to the word as it is.
