You do not taze someone already dedicated to killing another. Especially not from that distance or angle. Certainly not in the time frame needed to save the victim's life.
So the cop uses the tazer, then the victim has her carotid severed by the flailing assailant with the knife, then the assailant dies of heart failure.
Or the cop shoots the attacker until neutralized, then the victim goes home and the assailant potentially dies.
"But famous, what could have happened to make it so nobody dies!?"
Glad you asked, voice in my head. And the answer is simple, pre-elementary even. Don't fucking try to kill people.
But the wannabe murderer was only 16 and her life is clearly more valuable than the life of the person she was trying to kill.
`
I'm sorry, but clearly the only proper course of action was to allow her to stab that other person to death, and now that that was prevented, we have no choice but to set America on fire and scream.
Imagine thinking a girl deserves the die because the other girl actively trying to kill her is a certain age.
When a violent assailant, especially armed, is actively trying to kill someone else, you make them stop in the quickest and most reliable way possible. You don't talk her down while she's butchering another, you don't taze her and provoke uncontrollable muscle spasms while she's in knife range of another. You sure as fuck don't pick a fist fight you might not win and can't even initiate before the knife is buried to the hilt in someone else's throat.
I guess the cop should've used his 13 year of CIA/SOG/DELTA/SEAL training to tomahawk chop the knife in midair and reverse the gravity of the attacker's limbs so that she'd have backed off instead of been mid-stab. Certainly no armed teenager could ever pose a threat to an adult. I can't even keep the sarcasm up, bruh is just really stupid, man
Disarm her? How?
Warning shot? That's a good way to kill some kid down the road.
4 to the chest? Against an assailant in the midst of attempting homicide with a deadly weapon, that's restraint.
It wasn't the only solution. It was the best one, at that moment knowing what the officer knew.
You'd evidently prefer an innocent being butchered in the street while a cop watches, or otherwise does less than what is necessary to preserve innocent life.
You get therapy. We're right in the middle of our right goddamned minds.
Bruh, if you watch some videos of stuff like this you'll drop that "disarm, tackle, shoot for the legs" idea. Death happens quickly, one cut or stab in the wrong place and the person is dead regardless of first aid.
After watching the video, there was no time to deescalate or disarm or any of that nonsense without the person she was rushing getting stabbed, watch the video.
It stops being self defense when you turn around and run at someone off to the side and try to stab them. The person she went after was backed up against a car.
You can hear the officer trying to give commands as soon as he arrives and she ignores them to try and stab someone seemingly uninvolved in the fight.
You aren't a child at 16. You know right from wrong. You understand consequences.
The self defense ended the moment the other person was on the ground and the police were there. She decided she still wanted to harm someone anyway. Trigger-happy cops are a problem, I agree. But this seems cut and dry
That awkward moment when the person with maniac in their name is more sane, even tempered, and rational than the person bleating about how they need therapy
