Yeah it took me a long time to restrain myself from talking about a topic that I had connected in my own head, and instead lead the conversation to the topic I wanted to talk about
I think that most, if not all people think this way, but there are some of us that make the connections in a sort of rapid fire manner that appears to others to be disjointed. It happens with my wife and I quite often, and we just say that people's trains of thought move at different speeds.
Yeah, humans are built on association. So in the end everyone's gonna have trains of thought like this.
The distinguishing factor is, as basically always, Intensity rather than Existence.

Honestly I’ve been stumped by a lot of these things lately. I just learned that neurotypical people don’t... just ... shiver out of nowhere, they only do it when they’re cold? And they don’t flap their arms about when they’re very emotional? They aren’t even bothered by certain textures touching certain body parts? Like I can’t wear turtlenecks because having something around my throat freaks me out!
Granted I've never asked everyone I've met, but as far as I know everyone gets the shivers. Sometimes just a sudden quick burst that's over in like a second, sometimes from exhaustion/stress etc
`
And wearing highneck clothing often makes me feel claustrophobic haha. I know someone who as far as I know is neurotypical but can't stand velvet - even if someone else is wearing it

Perhaps it is more severity in reaction, as timebinder25 suggested
As for the shivers, I think they may have meant a constant trembling rather than a one-off chill. Like, if I talk for a prolonged period of time, I'll start to have full-body, hypothermia-like shakes. I don't feel cold or anything, I just tremble like a freaking chihuahua...
