A while back I saw this post that went something like "The British eat like the Germans are still flying overhead" and I thought it was pretty damn accurate.
I can't for the life of me remember on which meme website I saw it, so if it was here and I'm just repeating what we've all already seen, I apologize.
Yeah WW2 pretty much set us back 15+ years cuisine wise because rationing went on so long after the war, it's not so bad now as it was but if you're on holiday in the UK expect to pay £50 for a decent 3 course meal without drinks.
It's been a while since I last visited the UK, and to be fair I only ever went there on school trips so we mostly had our own food, but my perception was that there's a lot of Indian and Asian places that offer good food for quite fair prices. Maybe it's only the case in larger cities?
Yes plenty of Chinese and Indian restaurants (which are usually run by Pakistani families) which are more reasonable prices for good food, there's more variety in bigger cities, and some of the chain restaurants can be good.
