based on the amount of equipment left, and the limited time to withdraw them all, there's no way Biden would have been able to take them. The only plan was Trump saying he gave a deadline to remove troops, mostly in a bid to try to win the election. Sure Biden could have used taxpayer funds and paid billions to remove them, but then that would be another issue to use against him.
That was the whole point of extending the date of when they were supposed to be out by 4 whole months. You use those whole four months to withdraw gradually, not all at once, in the middle of the night, without telling any of your allies that you are going. You get non-combatants out, and start withdrawing equipment or distributing it to your remaining allies. and pulling back troops to withdraw them to their points of evac. The Biden administration literally told the Taliban, "I'm going to have this Cake and eat it too", took two bites, and decided to toss the whole cake into the trash.
Trump's plan was to get allies out first, and then soldiers and equipment, with a promise to devestate the land if any American ally so much as stubbed a toe.
The issue isn't money. The issue is "POTUS provided a terror regime with more weapons and gear than most countries, abandoned Americans and allies behind enemy lines, and is acting like it's the fault of the guy who's plan he scrapped and did nothing to replace 7 months ago".
And now the people we promised to protect, along with our own citizens, are being brutalized by men wearing American kit and killed by men holding American guns.
yes, Biden should have raised taxes to pay for the withdrawal in a short amount of time all because Trump made a pledge to take them all out by a certain date. Not that any of them were actually the President when it started, but the current one gets the blame.
Again. None of this is about money. None of us wanted to stay in the war. The right move was to actually start evacuation and withdrawal WITHOUT bugging out overnight with no notice to anyone.
None of this is about Taxes! They aren't even a distant concern next to us bugging out overnight, abandoning Americans and Allies, and arming a terror state in our entirely uncoordinated withdrawal, which looks a lot like a shameful retreat that demonstrates to the world that we will abandon our friends and don't even care about our own people.
@iccarus are you intentionally muddying the waters? Nobody said anything about the financial cost. I don't know anyone who has. The cost of removing military equipment from a terrorist owned land is something NO ONE will complain about. I don't know where you thought this would create a new tax anyways. The military already has a budget and have removed or destroyed equipment before. It's not a new idea.
wasn't Biden's plan to withdraw, it was Trump's. If Biden didn't, people would say "he's disrespecting Trump by cancelling his withdraw orders", he's in a position that no matter what he does, he's gonna get the blame for it anyway.
Trump wasn't the "best president ever", and that's his own words, and there are people that here it and think, "someone said he's the best president ever, so that must be true". He was always the first to agree and say what he was doing or going to do was the "best thing ever"
Biden had no reason to stick with it. His entire campaign was to undo Trump.
But again, none of us were saying it's wrong to leave Afghanistan. Our issue is the manner he and he alone decided to go about it.
So explain to me why we had go bug out overnight with no notice and coordination, leaving behind billions in weapons and tens of thousands of people? And worse, it's been confirmed that Biden passed over the names and biometric information of our allies to the Taliban.
so Trump gave the order, that's all, no actual way to do it, and it's Biden's responsibility to organise the logistics of the withdraw? Not only that, he personally handed over the names of the allies, amazing, didn't even know he went over there
Trump did not give the order. He's been gone for 7 months.
And yes, Biden is wholly responsible for all of it. Why are you so fixated on trying to pin this on Trump? Biden could've canceled the whole deal the same way he canceled Trump's plan. He could've jump started the evacuation months ago. He could've flattened the country behind the last soldier to leave after the civvies and allies were safe. He could've used drones or airstrikes to destroy the equipment left behind. He could've even saved some face by authorizing soldiers to assist British military efforts instead of deciding to hold a grudge because they hurt his little feelings.
I don't get you. Just repeating yourself, trying to distract from the issue, trying to blame the guy who has been out of power for months, I don't get it.
It's flabbergasting to see people explain away this whole issue with Biden's terrible withdrawal as Trump's fault. Somehow it's good that we were pulling out but it' bad because TRump was doing it for RE election, and it was bad Trump had gotten every major power in Afghanistan to sit down and agree the US could leave. Biden good for pissing off the Taliban by changing the date for when all US forces had to be out by 4 months, which he didn't even use to withdraw, he just up and left with all it's disastrous consequences 2 months early. Trump wasn't even in the opening argument of why this was terrible. It was just a rational look at why the withdrawal was so bad. Leaving thousands of nationals and allies stranded and rearming the taliban for the next 20 years (at the least), and despite all the intent to have the Afghani's in control and NOT the Taliban, it looks like we have achieved the opposite. Biden SHOULD be under blast, because he COULD'VE said: Nah, we ain't leaving.
He could've done that, but he wouldn't piss off the ultra far right, he would piss off EVERYBODY, including his own voter base. Everything he has done has either set the stage for the Taliban to become the ruling authority in Afghanistan, or for a later re invasion when things get bad enough that the UN stops mincing words and letting nations onto the council who should not be there. It is an absolute clusterfuck that Biden set in motion, and I cannot comprehend how we can blame ANYONE else other than BIden and his piss poor administration.
Thank goodness! Praise the Gods and be blessed by the spirits! I could've sworn I've seen videos of terrorists wearing US gear and holding US rifles while using US vehicles to kill US allies and mock or obstruct US forces! Guess it was a trick of the light, all a bad dream. Now we can just tell those people stuck in Afghanistan to just sit tight while we use Kabul and Bagram as staging grounds for rescue operations, and maybe even support the British operators already trying to do good.
I'm just so glad you're right, and that my brothers and sisters are going to be okay. That we're abandoning any allies or leaving any of our people behind.
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit
So I'm not saying this all isn't true. I am disappointed and ashamed at how it all went down.
I'm saying these numbers off of a internet drawing are probably not that accurate.

Oh and yesterday CBS and FOX news, completely opposite Blue and Red, both had a story on remaining equipment.
Both stories said only 27 Hummers we're left behind. You guys know not to trust the internet! Especially not government accountants
@tarotnathers13th already educated you on this issue. Get new bait.
