to the media it's an AK-47, if it's a handgun, it's automatically a glock

It's an M-16. That little stick isn't the ammo, it so you can put that badboy on a rock or something and pivot the gun like a turret.

doesnt the media also want to ban pistol braces because they make the gun more concealable? (yes i know they dont)

It's an AR platform of some sort with a foregrip bipod. The stock suggests an AR build of some kind. That's not a traditional M-4 or M-16 stock.
The trigger lock and empty magazines are big points for safety.
