See what this is doing to our country? Police are afraid to do their job because even if what he did was justified the media will still ruin him and make him seem like a terrible person
Isn't that sort of the point of less-than-lethals? Sent a shitload of them downrange and see what happens, then if they still want to fight then kill them?
I understand what you are saying and agree but you are forgetting that the criminal might have a real gun. The rubber bullets are not going to defend s/he cop against the criminals real gun. It's like the phrase "bringing a knife to a gun fight." The best way is to teach the cops not shoot to kill but to disable the criminal so they can bring the criminal into custody. For example shoot them in the leg or arm or lower torso where they will not die instantly and be easy to catch.
Lead bullets don't poison you. They kill you.

Of course if you take a rubber bullet to the head you're gonna stand a good chance of dying. No shit. A rubber bullet is considered lethal within 20 feet (or is it 20 yards I forget). But a rubber gives you an extra chance to surrender.
You might think it is possible to disable the criminal by shooting at his/her's arms or legs, but in the moment, you do not think about trying to save the man's life and the people's he's threatening around him but the gun that is pointing at your face.
i think you are overestimating accuracy in shooting a moving target if you go shooting at limbs you are more likely to miss and send a stray bullet into whatever is on the other side, like say i dunno KIDS. you aim for the mass not hoping to kill, but hoping to hit the target at all.
To guest if the cop "even" shot at the head, bloody well will die. You have to be very bloody lucky to survive a bullet to the head. Anyways, with the right pressure or spot to the head can kill anybody. But that is besides the point. I'm referring to the fact that the criminal will possibly have a real gun. The cop has so much protection that can defend s/his life. One shot to the head s/he will die. The cops you see on the street only get vests. When it comes to more serious situations the "street cops" are in the background while personal that are train will handle the situation. I guess I did overestimate the flailing of the legs and arms but what I hope you got out of that is that the cop should try to disarm then kill the criminal.
I read about this in a popular science magazine a while back, and in my opinion, this is what all cops should carry. I know it would look intimidating, but this really would stop several police shootings, under the right circumstances however.

You wouldn't do it you fucking punk you're just another kid trying to sound hard on the internet. This guy deserves to be incarcerated but saying he deserves to die is so fucking insane and what really fucks me up is that none of you realize how fucking crazy it is. He deserves to be separated from society not his fucking life he's a fucking human with a life and a family ok quit acting like that doesn't mean shit. I don't know how the fuck all these stupid kids started romanticizing cops like they're beyond reproach or our own personal angels. Nevermind you drank the koolaid you're fucked have fun living a miserable existence believing that the people that are limiting your freedoms are actually protecting you. It's gonna be a comfy police state for you all
The man is a violent criminal.
Protests over justified shootings have scared cops away from their duties.
You are blaming the victim.
.
You're right about one thing though. If I got the chance to kill the attacker, I wouldn't stick the needle into him.
I'd put the barrel of a Glock against the back of his head. Faster and cheaper that way.
Not to totally bash your opinion or anything, but you say he deserves to be separate from society, yet says his life is valuable enough not to take for reasons like: having a family. Your whole argument is based on the fact that every life is precious. Fun fact: they aren't. We have started criminalizing police officers for doing their job how they see fit ( not to say that some took it overboard). The cop in the picture refused to use deadly force in fear that his community would of bashed him for the same outlandish propaganda bullshit that's coming from all corners of the nation.
Here's a quick tip: look at criminal statistics in this country. Most people that have gone to jail have a track record of their offenses and have been in and out of the system more times than not.
And to the person complain only cops not using non lethal take downs: you're a special kind of stupid. SOP's dictate that you must have your taser with you on your belt unless not in uniform.
While I do think he could have stated them a bit more politely, personally I do actually agree with some of the points therza made. I myself do not believe in the death penalty (but that's an argument for another time) and certainly not in this case. No, the man should not have assaulted the police officer, of course not, but to say that he deserves the needle in his arm or a shot to the head because he did is going way overboard. What about every other assault case, should we send all of them to their graves? He should be punished accordingly but being put to death is far too harsh. If you truly believe he should be, well then let's just say I hope you never end up running the country.
this is what america had been reduced to. People are too scared to be labelled incorrectly that they would rather face possible death. It is hard for an outsider of your country to see this.
when did funsubstance stop being fun? i get this from all other forms of social media. i used to come here to look at funny pics, memes, and hilarious comments. lately it's being overrun by racism, gay posts (as in homosexual posts) and a lot of things that cause hate in the comments... can we go back to having fun?

these post honestly make me cry, not only because i feel personally degraded by stereotyping all black people but because of how the hate is seeping into a happy place
I don't think it's stereotyping or hate, it's more like people spew out whatever they think without actually thinking. It's sort of what Don Trumph says; I don't actually think he means half of what he says as a raw value, but he just says it because it's sort of what he means. It's like saying "I hate everyone, but I hate everyone equally". I don't actually hate everyone, I love everyone. But when someone pisses me off, then I'm pissed at everything. But I'm pissed equally at everything. There will be this vague anger stewing because of that one idiot but I'll treat everyone equally (for better or worse) because of that. So, I don't hate everyone.

People don't mean what they say to the extreme they're saying it.
Are you guys fucking kidding me. Just because you assault somebody doesn't mean you deserve to fucking die. Murder somebody, sure you don't deserve to live, but beating them? are you guys insane?
This man is a police officer, not an executioner. If he feels that he can subdue a hostile person with non-legal force, he should. Of course, it would have helped if he had a non-lethal weapon.
