That is a spoiler, but it's a very very meh one at best. its not like I identified Tobi or something major, just some end of the series stuff. Furthermore, the new movies make this known as well as the manga having been over for a hot minute. Just waiting on the damn anime t finish up lol
It went on way longer than it should have. It was like how Dragon Ball Z's plot slowly got more and more retarded, except it happened much faster and somehow still ended up running even longer than DBZ, I assume largely because of the Inu Yasha tier amounts of filler.
You can't just ignore the bad parts about about something and pretend it's good. The filler episodes are a part of the show, so the show's quality suffers for it.
What do you mean noting is good by my logic? There are plenty of anime that are good without cherry picking episodes.
And you judge by the whole product. The filler is a part of the show. You can't know which episodes are filler as the show is airing, so you watch them all, meaning you have to watch all the filler, and the filler is shitty and numerous, which makes watching the show a poor experience. That means the show is bad.
Also if by canon you mean only the stuff that happens in the manga, then you're judging the manga, not the anime.
If you want to judge everything, than you can't forget the pervy aspect, which instantly lowers everything by your logic. Besides, you might not like it, but the likes far outweigh dislikes in Naruto's cause my friend. People give it a higher rating, thus making it good. Varying opinions on the quality average out to be way better than you make it out to be.
"If you want to judge everything, than you can't forget the pervy aspect, which instantly lowers everything by your logic."
Are you talking about fan-service? Because that is by no means objectively bad.
"Besides, you might not like it, but the likes far outweigh dislikes in Naruto's cause my friend."
No it does not. It's a generic shonen at it's core, with a myriad of cookie cutter characters, that is brought down by excessive filler and a much longer run than it should have had.
"People give it a higher rating, thus making it good. Varying opinions on the quality average out to be way better than you make it out to be."
Argumentum ad populum is a logical fallacy.
Alright, since you seem to know it all, please go and recreate the entire Naruto anime in the correct way you envision. Since you obviously speak for every single persons opinions and reflect everyone's likes and dislikes, why don't you create all the animes, hell why aren't you leader of Earth yet? By some viewer stand points, like yours, it's length drops it's quality, but the companies are still making millions off of it, if you like it or not, so it's a smart business move. If the length and this fillers are the only problem with the anime, that makes it a pretty damn good anime in retrospect. The only problem I have with fillers is that they aren't always cohesive with the main plot. Of course that's just my opinion.
"Since you obviously speak for every single persons opinions and reflect everyone's likes and dislikes"
I never said that, I have no idea why you think I think this.
"the companies are still making millions off of it"
Being profitable is not the same as being good.
"If the length and this fillers are the only problem with the anime, that makes it a pretty damn good anime in retrospect."
No it doesn't. It makes it sub-par at best.
It's the way you write. You sound like you are talking down to me. I will agree on the point that the sheer number of fillers is annoying, I just want the fight with Kaguya to fucking start already.
I don't think I was talking down to you. Maybe pointing out your logical fallacy was a little patronizing, but other than that I don't see it.
I do like to talk bluntly, if that's what your picking up on.
It's not the bluntness, I felt as though you are trying to showcase your superiority over me. Believe me, I know I have my flaws, so it's not like you hurt my feelings because you think I'm wrong.
I don't think I'm superior to you, but I do find it ridiculous that you would ignore a part of a show when you judge that show, or that popularity or success factor into how good it is. Don't these seem off to you?
I obviously think you're wrong here, but that doesn't make me better than you.
I think calling an anime sub par because of money driven companies wanting to extend the show and milk it for all its worth is unfair to the anime. Naruto has always had a great plot and had great characters and was always exciting. A few of the fillers were garbage, but most fillers in shows are garbage. It's like judging people for the worst of them and not factoring the best or people. That's my sentiment anyway.
"I think calling an anime sub par because of money driven companies wanting to extend the show and milk it for all its worth is unfair to the anime."
I don't think it's fair for anime that don't suffer from fillers to be seen as comparable to anime that do, as though the fillers don't exist.
"It's like judging people for the worst of them and not factoring the best or people. That's my sentiment anyway."
No, I'm factoring in the good of Naruto as well, which isn't a whole lot. It was fairly entertaining until the chunin(?) tests arc, which was significantly more boring, and, though there were a few fun and entertaining things later, it never really recovered. It's always been generic shonen, so it never had a whole lot of potential, and the constant fillers just dragged it farther and farther down as it became more and more of a chore to watch. It also didn't help that all the powers started to get ridiculous as they ran out of ideas, and the show essentially became a bunch of super heroes who call themselves ninjas.
There is good in the show, but it's almost completely drowned out by everything around it.
Have you even seen any of the Shippuden series?and right after the chunin exams Itachi Uchiha and the Akaitsuki entered the plot. Things were very interesting and important up til Naruto and Sasuke had their battle where Sasuke leaves the village to go to Orochimaru. Idk how you think those parts are boring lol.
I shouldn't have used the word boring, I should have just said less exciting. The action was getting to be a bit more repetitive and the plot dragged on a bit. Like I sad there were parts that were better later, but the downward slope began in that arc. It was at that time that I realized it was going to be a run-of-the-mill shonen.
I haven't watched Shippuden, obviously I have very little interest in watching Naruto.
Why did they change the name anyway? Doesn't it just follow the manga from where Naruto left off?
Naruto Shippuden picks up after episode 135 of Naruto. It follows the manga. You haven't even seen the main enemies yet. Naruto is just setting the stage for Shippuden. It's so good. Give it a shot. I thought you were talking about the fillers in the whole series, but yeah the fillers from Naruto 136 to 220 are all fucking stupid.
Waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait. Are you saying that nothing after episode 136 follows the manga? Does that mean that Shippuden doesn't have anything to do with all those episodes? Like I could have just gone strait from episode 135 to Shippuden episode 1 and I won't have been lost?
You would have had to watch the last like 10 minutes of episode 220. I believe a company in America had a play in creating those fillers. Now you may say it was completely stupid, but they had a good reason. The aim was dangerously close to the manga, so with all those fillers there was no way the anime was ever going to catch up to the manga. Yeah if you watch 136 to 220, I agree the show becomes terrible, but I tend to leave those out lol.
The first 2 arcs are filler free. There is a decent sized filler but has some story content to it soon after that though. It's one if the better fillers in my opinion. Then they have 2 more story arcs and a filler arc. I forget the places exactly. They have been in heavy fillers the past couple months though. They are more spread out in shippuden. Had I the episode list in front of me I could tell you what is what.
I see. Well that filler still makes Naruto pretty shit, but I'll reserve judgement on Shippuden for the slim chance that I bother watching it.
I suppose this is what I get for ignoring source material.
I've read the manga, and the story is good. The anime follows the manga more than most that I've seen, besides the fillers of course. I think you'd enjoy it.
Maybe. It's been a while, though. I'm not sure how much of Naruto I'd have to skim through, and I'd rather get back into One Piece before I do anything with Naruto.
