First, screws have little sheer strength. It takes a surprisingly small amount of force applied to the side to break a screw. Putting a longer screw into the strike plate won't make anything stronger.
Second, long screws tend to twist the head off when driven into solid wood. If you want to try this pointless little tip, drill a pilot hole first.
Or a sledgehammer! My father's favourite tool to use is he sledgehammer. And generally they don't have to bust in through the door. When they do, your house is probably already screwed; unless it's a medical run.
thank you, the only reason to ever use longer screws is to find wood to sink them into. the little ones will pull out and after putting them back several times you will find that you have to go deeper to get them to sink in, the plate is just there to not tear up the wood where door hits it has nothing to do with strength
