Yeah, make no mistake. PETA doesn't care about animals. They care about publicity and money. Don't support them and don't listen to any of the fear mongering scare tactics bullshit they spew out from the rotten, hate filled cavities they have instead of mouths
Are those ads for real
Who is stupid enough to believe that people kill for wool
Like if I were a sheep, I'd be damn happy to get rid of those hot, heavy wool in the summer
They are happy to be rid of all the wool, there's been several stories where sheep run away and haven't been sheared for much too long. Some are found in time to be saved and sheared, others have overheated and died from their huge coats.
There are places where they cut the wool off in an
inhumane way. Shave it off hard and cut skin in the process. As I said before I like PETA's ideas of doing things better and stop abusing animals but they are too extreme on things and I wish they did a better job.
No wool farmer worth his boots would hurt the animal he's sheering. It can lead to skin problems, which can lead to less wool or inferior wool. That would be like a dairy farmer purposely cutting off an utter on their otherwise healthy milking cows, it just doesn't make any sense. Just keep in mind PETA places animal well being above human and are classified as a terrorist watch group by the FBI.
Hyperion is right about the shearing. Workers are payed by the animal, not by the hour, so the shearer might 'rush' the job and cut the animal in the process. Sheep aren't holding still, so getting cut by the clippers happens easily, and some of those wounds are deep. What does the shearer do? Stitches up the wound then and there without any sort of pain relief or numbing jell.
Of course I'm only taking about the bad shearers. I'm not saying stop shearing sheep (that would kill them) but to slow down and be more gentle.
One of PETAs official mantras is "better dead than fed". The answer is yes, they honestly think an animal ( matter how well cared for) is better of dead than in human care. Zoos, pets, service animals...they are against any human-animal interaction whatsoever
Ok leave the starving and homeless alone "Better of than dead". Let the Bees die so our plants wont grow, let the mice/rats run wild without predators( we all know how that turned out "Plague", shall I continue?
When farmers shave sheep and lambs they wouldn't even want flesh or blood on the coat as that would damage it and decrease the quality of the wool, plus wtf PETA
It wasn't "themed," it was a blatant ripoff they should have been sued over.
Copyright law protects parody and satire, I don't think it covers hate propaganda from a terrorist oganization.
I know PETA exaggerates a lot, but they did say wool coat which is sometimes made from sheepskin or lambskin which actually does involve killing the animal
