None. People have such a fucked up reputation for soullessly crushing others hopes and dreams with brutal burns, except for a select few that are never you. Never, ever you, that people have come to expect it as a self defense measure.
He made a leap and got what sounded like a catty, bitchy rejection and reacted accordingly.
Damned shame really. It's probably neither of their faults, they just got swept along with the pop culture bullshit.

if i would ask a girl out and then i would get such a response from her, i would then think that she have no interesst in me and want that i gtfo of her life. so..i don't think this response from you is clever, even if you know he like irony :/
She could try, but I doubt he'd be up for it. If he was open to talking to her, he wouldn't have blocked her. Online, he may have been blunt, but he was polite. If she approaches him IRL, I'm not so sure.
The thing is, is that if she pushes the issue IRL and he remains polite, the damage has still already been done. The context of the exchance will change from:
I mustered up he courage to make a pass at her and she played with the conversation and rejected me with a bitchy reply.

His opinion would change from bitchy to doesn't take it/me seriously.
Maybe. One can hope... but hope is not a vehicle for success.
I'm going to project and make some assumption here:
They were on summer break from school when this happened. When they return to school, he will avoid her because he has moved on. Her trying to approach him is honestly a bad idea.
Best case scenario into have a mutual friend extend an apology with an explanation and hope for the best.
alternatively you couldj ust say sth like ' tuesday afternoon' and try to be funny and ridiculous on that tuesday afternoon in person.
still.... if i were that guy i'd have my delicate male pride checked at a doctor's bc if it gets wounded that easily it can't be alright at all.
It was strong and heathy pride. Pride and respect for himself and to not put up with being fucked with. He sensed he was being played and chose to cut his losses, cut ties and move on.
Are you suggesting that in the face of a harsh rebuttal that he should have just rolled over and taken it? Prostrate himself to be her emotional plaything?
The shame of it is, it was a bad joke that blew up in her face and bit her in the ass.
But thanks for explaining
Her crush asked her out. Sounds like he might have had a bit of a thing for her too.

Just laugh at yourself and it will be alright
