I love MLP. Applejack is best pony and you can't convince me otherwise. .... But after a few years hanging out with the founder of one of the biggest pony cons, seeing how they get treated by the fandom will put you right off most bronies.
Oh, Jesus. What hasn't this poor guy put up with? One year a guy came in, not to any of the "18+" events of the con, but just into the con hotel lobby, where not only the under-18 con members but also any passerby of whatever age could see, carrying a VERY explicit pony dakimakura of one of the Mane Six. Con Founder happened to be A) on duty, and B) way closer than any of Con Security at the time, so he went over to the guy to get him to cover it up and take it back to his room. Dude not only refused, but got so threatening with the poor Con Founder that *hotel* security saw and threatened to call the police.
Which pisses me off. The fandom has a LOT of really, really awesome people in it, and kids who are gonna grow up to be seriously awesome, and some artists whose work will straight-up drop your jaw, but it's also hip-deep in people who don't respect those artists OR the fact that a fandom that attracts eight-year-olds needs to have family-friendly spaces.
I don't know what "dakimakura" means, nor do I pay attention to fanfiction-type things in general, but that seems super shitty, though I doubt that that sort of thing is anywhere near the norm.
If someone is being nasty in public, ESPECIALLY where children might see, I'm all for getting the authorities involved, screw threatening to call them. I can't stand people without any common decency.
Ohh well. Does it comes with a age specific disclaimer?Like guys can take their daughters with them. And what if they like the show and are going to watch the movie. What's the big deal? Adults enjoying cartoon is not new. And the movie is doing business too. So what is so difficult to comprehend I don't understand.

It's the culture that was formed around it.
It's fine for them to enjoy it, but it becomes uncomfortable when the outliers outnumber the actual audience.
Why does everyone feel like they have to control everything someone does. I'm not talking about the post, that was a joke, it's fine to joke. But I don't understand why you have to push into people's lives and tell them what they should and shouldn't do when they aren't harming anyone. Why do you feel the need to control everyone
Fuck off.

Kids benefit from good male and female role models.
Imbalance leads to a terrible child.
