They didn't say no computer just no internet. I could work on writing, finish some games, bring friends out to play dnd, read. Its only a month I was grounded for longer as a teen
This is like the fifth one of these I've seen and the answers have always been, in the vast majority, yes. Really if you're trying to get people to really consider it you should have posted a 4ftx4ft room with only a mattress and a toilet. You're fed twice a day with 3 boiled potatoes and a gallon of water each time. You must stay a month and at any point you can simply call out that you want to quit to leave. You get nothing but a single set of clothes which will be replaced once a week. Nothing else. And by nothing else I mean nothing else. No toilette paper, soap, toothbrush, nothing. And if you last the month you get $500k. If you quit you're charged $500 per day you stayed. I think alot of people would go for it but would end up quitting even with the absurd charge.
Yeah. Unless you're just being melodramatic or have a SERIOUS disorder or very particular life responsibilities (must care for a sick lived one and can't be gone a month- blah blah) very few would say no to this. I would say no, but the reason is in my comment.
No, I do agree. That's why I upvoted and commented. Your scenario takes what is essentially "would you get paid $100k to take a free vacation most people would pay thousands for?" And turns it into an actual question. As a fun asides NASA was paying people $100k to stay in bed for 60 days awhile back.
4ft by 4ft, hell no. Even 8ft by 4ft still probably a no, and yeah... that would be psychological hell. It's basically being thrown in the hole for a month, except worse.
I wouldn't because I'd lose my job if I took a month off. Even if it's $100k after tax that's not worth losing my salary, benefits, and progress at my company. Much of that money will likely be eaten by bills as I find a new job in my industry with comparable pay and benefits anyway, and I'll lose my 401 match so even if I'm contributing out of the $100k I'll have to double out of pocket to make it up. It's no small sum, but where I live that's not even 10% of a down payment on a house, and after losing all the money I'd spend keeping up expenses until I was hired again it wouldn't even be enough to buy a decent new car. So it would be hardly life changing and just not worth it. 10-15 years ago I would have said yes no problem though.
Lol. I wish. Most companies have a max you can save- it tends to be around 100 hours most places I've worked at until you've been there about 10-15 years and then some go up to closer to 200 hours. At my current job you can carry over 30% of your vacation one year to the next and the rest they pay out on your check, but you still max at 100 hours. In Germany I've heard its about 22 days a year, and most Europeans I've talked to seem to get somewhere around there. That would be rather nice. I'm just lucky since many places combine sick time and vacation time and give you 2 weeks still. I only get 3 sick days a year but at least they aren't part of my regular vacation time!
Yeah the sick time not coming out of vacation time is nice. Two weeks seems to be about avg throughout the US, sucks you can only roll over 30% :/
In France isn't it like just under a month? We need someone from France to verify that. I know most European countries get more vacation than us, but I'm pretty sure France gets more than most other European countries.
Ok, here's the question: are you allowed to leave the cabin? Like, I doubt they'd allow you to go to town or anything, but maybe you could walk around the woods, explore, build a snowman, make a snow fort, look at animals, etc etc
Also, it's no cell phones allowed, but what about a landline? So long as you don't invite anyone over I bet you could have one of those (that means no ordering pizza though)
Hell yes I would
