If we really want to nit pick it doesn’t matter. Hunting is only allowed in season and with tags, and at that hunting in urban or habitated areas is also generally not allowed. Further it falls apart as the self identity of an animal is not relevant to its legal status, only its genetics. Go shoot a bald eagle and bring it to a game warden and tell them it self identified as an invasive kill list species. Let me know how that goes. I’m not telling anyone they can’t identify or believe to be anything they want- the law isn’t concerned with subjective or objective reality, only wether things meet specific criteria to fit a legal definition.
But I wonder though- by this same logic most religious folks want to be closer to their god(s) and enjoy the afterlife- so does it logically follow that we should also kill them? Or what of spiritual folks who seek to exist beyond the physical world? I know it was meant as a joke. I’m just saying that popular thing to hate+insinuating murder a joke does not make. Or at least not a very good one unless perhaps it’s at least clever. This is not clever.
I believe you may have things mixed up. If you can make sense of my comments those are probably the 8yo Russian kid, if not it was probably me. But Dimitry is cool enough and taught me a cool trick that lets me vote twice in elections, so I can’t hate on him.
Internet: "Let people like what they like."
Also Internet: "Hey, those people aren't hurting anyone, but they're being sexually adventurous while I'm just sitting here smelling my own satchel cheese after ages of disuse.
STONE them!"
It's almost like people are desperate to APPEAR open-minded and good, but are easily swayed by mob mentality and the desire to fit in, even (especially) at the cost of shutting others out.
To put it mildly, most people are hypocritical garbage.
@matthewg- there’s some level of truth to your observation. Many people do just want to seem like they care about things. What you overlook in saying “most” though, is that not everyone is perfect. People may have honest desires and intent to be a certain way and are not pretending- but like most people they don’t always behave the way they would set as ideal. There are fundamental social urges and evolutionary mechanisms which often feed things like this. Overcoming our basal natures is what society is about. People in general try, some don’t do as well as others. For most gentle nudging or reminders serve well enough. Most people can be awful. All people can do wrong, some people may be garbage, but most people are just people. Flawed but not so far beyond help to be called garbage. IMHO.
I’d say outlook- but outlook is in part influenced by life experience, so that is an element. And luckily either way every day and every conversation is a chance to change either or.
