Yeah? So has practically every other great nation or empire. The British Empire, The Roman Empire, the Ancient Egyptians, the list goes on. So no, we won't sit the fuck down Amir.
Anyway... my point is you obviously love history (millions of years over hundreds)... the closer you get to know the more complicated it becomes. Are you going to college?
Funk, you're referencing college as if its the thing that will teach people how the world works . But if you think college is the epicenter of enlightenment you have a lot to learn.
it'll teach them more about how the larger world works. A trade school is fine; no shame... once that trade is learned how much do you give a shit about reading up though? Most don't.
I'm also not saying college is the only place... but good luck finding a 400 page college book and someone you can debate that with, someone who has read it 100 times; it's why professors exist.
just... both.
I would argue that knowledge and debate are an order of magnitude more available now than ever before.
.
The desire to seek that knowledge is the differentiating factor both in and away from college.
.
If you throw everything I've ever said out the window except one thought, please make the one you keep this: do not assume the professors are correct!
Some are fantastic but some live in their own scholastic bubble that's far secluded from the real world.
Debate exists if you throw yourselve into the shit that is yahoo. You must swim... but it exists. Yes I know I spelled "yourselve" wrong. That was on purpose.
Do you know HOW many times I was failed by shit professors? Twice by the same french cunt who could NOT get over the fucking canned goods like it was a civic duty and once by a goddamn speech teacher who claimed she didn't know what a basketball court looked like even though I fucking drew it on a chalkboard on a map after she denied me court privilege given to the whole fucking class by none other than the fucking basketball coach!
That is 3 out of... honestly over 70. You know a shit professor when you know one... stop trying to spoil my shit.
I'm not talking about liking or disliking professors, obviously there will be examples of both. The ones you should be concerned about are charismatic, likable AND pumping you full of garbage. You just dont realize how poorly its setting you up for the world.
It's as simple as this: if someone is trying to teach you that you are oppressed or a victim, push back at them with every fiber of your intellect. People who preach that message are stealing your power.
.
The people you want to pay attention to will be teaching you self empowerment, courage, and how to achieve goals.
.
Safe spaces, and group oppression rhetoric will only lead you to victimhood. Even though being a victim feels good right away, there is no happiness or peace in it.
What if I told you that no country that has ever exhisted is without the stain of innocent blood. Ideals are Peaceful History is Violent and nations are built upon a foundation of gravestones. Does that make it ok sertainly not. But does that make the United States a bastion of evil and immortality. No. In my opinion both of these guys are wrong. One is naive the other is a close minded cynic.
A lot of countries are generous. European countries and the USA send a shit ton of $ and food to aid countries . The USA still has racial issues, but it has improved a lot over the last 100 years.
I just want to know what the fuck the Vatican is doing with their money besides fucking nuns and kids. Technically they have the largest army on Earth with coffers that dwarf Fort Knox and are basically the 3rd MAD country. This next part might piss people off:
The Vatican has never asked for F-35's, Israel has. If one's a leech so is the other.. and so would any state trying to use the US to defend Mecca.
This is bullshit yo. I never signed a contract as a baby for this dumb shit.
An “experiment in freedom”??? Right coz America is the only country that has freedom. Ironically you lead the world in people incarcerated per capita, you have a school shooting at least once a week and your president is an oompah loompah. Vegas is cool though.
The term "experiment in freedom" was coined in the 1780s by several american politicians and authors to describe the situation they found themselves in. We know we didnt invent democracy or freedom. The greeks invented democracy. Hell even the British Empire had parlament at the time. So we definitely didnt invent democracy. "Experiment in freedom" simply references a time when America was a fledgling democracy surrounded by colonial territories of monarchies and they didnt know if the country would survive a decade.
Bruh tbh ima agree with the first guy bro. We got the most freedom in the world and we were one of the first in our era to actually implement that shiz for this long. Every one got had slavery though even africans had slavery. The worst people were the middle eastern areas. We got the strongest military and i say we do a pretty good job controlling dat since we could f up most people we do mess up with dis sometimes. Not saying we perfect but we do a good af job as the number 1 pick tbh.
Bruh i aint trolling im serious. Yo man i aint been trolling for a long minute i left that behind me bro give me a break ive done a pretty good job of not being a dick and stuff man like honestly man i actually believe that as a nation we do a pretty dang good job considering most nations have just as bad of a history if not worst. Also for all the power and influence we got we honestly could be like a thousand times worst. I love my nation no troll bro come on now.

I know man and i dont mean to be like all upset and stuff its just like I honestly idk why i did what i did its been this way all the time on the internet ive just been such a faggot all the time and idk why it always ends up like that the multiple account the hella cringe chats and insults and stuff man like got myself messed up im sorry man its prolly been pretty hard on this community dealing with that and i aint gonna be able to take that B.S. back but just know like im legitimately sorry for that.

No need to apologize, people fuck up every now and again.
Amir's a moron. American culture began as an extension of a subset of English culture of that time - the desire for religious, philosophical, and economic freedom of choice, and release from persecution.
I don't think "dog whistle"means what you think it means.

Funny how some people who are all pro personal choices and individual freedom have a problem with women making decisions on something that is literally a part of their body. This framing of abortion as genocide is plain Westboro Baptist Church style, Good luck with that.
@halfdeadhammerhead if you are referring to @unklethan’s comment you might want to read it again. I think the implication is that they mandate selective abortions. I don’t know if they actually do, I just wanted to clarify the conversation.

"They" don't force anyone to abort. Women make this decision. I don't believe he doesn't know this, and that's what you call a lie. And calling this a "genocide" is pure, evil bigotry.

You're right, I should have called selective elimination of individuals with unwanted characteristics "eugenics" instead.
And before you go all "it's the woman's body"on me, may I simply ask: does the woman have Downs or does the baby? If it's just the baby, and not the woman as well, then perhaps they are separate individuals, each with a right to life.
And before you go back to your original unfounded "some people are are all pro personal choices and individual freedom", I'm totally not. I'm a huge fan of Hobbes's social contract, where individuals give up some liberties for the betterment of the liberties available to the whole group.
Eugenics/genocide is not good for the liberties of the whole group.
Change my mind.

You actually start lying by using words like "individual" and "baby" when you mean a fetus, that is so dependent on the surrounding tissue of the woman's body, that by no means it could be separated from her her without dying. It is by definition a part of her body, like a cyst. And you keep on lying by STILL equaling eugenics and genocide even after you pretended to make a difference in your first sentence.Eugenics can be a wide range of ideas and procedures, while genocide has a pretty narrow definition. What would be the génus here? It's shrimps we're talking about. Iceland is not ordering or even forcing women to abort, they allow them to make that decision. How does not allowing women this decision make for "the betterment of the liberties available to the whole group"?
I'm pretty sure Hobbes would disagree with your totally biased framing and the obliqueness of your argumentation. I have no interest in changing your mind as I perceive you as phony and hostile.

I'm gonna stop at "what's the genus here". Are you implying that Cambodians or Jews are a different genus from the rest of us homo sapiens?

Another see-through act of obliquity. The word "genocide" is greek/latin for the act of killing an entire people, with "génus° as the word for "a people". So I was asking you how you can relate the act of a woman deciding what to do with a very part of her body to that. I'm implying that a couple grams of a woman's body tissue (aka fetus) are not a person, not to mention a people, so where are you coming from, other than trying to frame me as a racist? Way to go, troll.
Iceland has such a small population that it's one of the one few countries where it actually makes sense. Can you imagine a country with half the population having down's?
there is so much wrong with what we teach in schools. I don't mean that in a bad way... I love this country... but there is this retarded patriotic idea that will literally fail you in all your history classes if you actually bring up how fucked up our history is.
My advice: If you have something you want to say, do it in college. Get the marks in HS.

Don fucked now, the lot of you.
Anyways, America was an experiment, but that went wrong when the people decided they dont wanna be British no more so they rebelled and became a nation of our own. Sure we may still have our problems as people, but America is known a home for those who are hardworking and want to build a dream for themselves.
I have my parrots and drones... oh.. also gonna need tags... but fight me! I need !,000 parrots, 5,000 transmitters and 6,000 $100 drones and let us see who wins at guerilla warfare.
*trained parrots for "get to da choppa" but honestly, a mixture of songbirds that can pull off just a "choppa" we could get that parrot number down to 200. Imagine the fucking echos XD
oh so we stick the tags on the parrots, observe flight patterns... and then just start dropping tags with nothing connected to funnel them... all the while drones are doing overpasses with random "CHOPPA!" and "GET TO DA CHOPPA!" You don't even have to go into the jungle, you funnel them out of it... into a kill box. War won.
American culture's not so bad, I'm very sure that it exists. America did have slavery for a while longer from other countries, and westward expansion was no joke. But honestly, Canada and other countries are not too much better when it comes to how they are to the natives.
First world does not mean what you think it does. Study the Cold War a bit.
▼

Maybe you ought to study the past cold war history a bit. The definition of "First world" has changed a lot during the last 30 years. The old definition, based on political alliances, has become obsolete. Since what used to be called the eastern block has disappeared, the old definition doesn't make any sense any more, and it has shifted. Today "First world" generally means politically and socially stable, industrialized and wealthy countries. So the way it's commonly used today, Switzerland is of course a first world country.
And who the fuck defined that? This isn't even as divisive as Pluto. It still literally means what it means. It can still be used, how you use it and 99% of the English speaking world will understand, but that doesn't make you right.
Does that hurt as much as when I once applied bengay on my chapped asshole? Yes, thank you very much muwahahahahaha
deleted
"And who the fuck defined that?" - well, that's a no-brainer: exactly the same instance that defined it when the cold war was still on: a peer group of politicians and professors and whogivesadamns. And since the definition by political alliance was based on the existing antagonism between Nato and the Warsaw Pact, naturally that definition has shifted/changed after the Warsaw Pact ceased to exist. So the 1% english speaking people who still define the term "First World" by the exact same criteria as in 1990 have simply missed the bus. No reason to brag about it though, it's not a good thing to live in the past.
Name the definers.. It's a fugazee bro. You're comparing NATO, an iron-clad, defined alliance to theoretical Pluto orbit objects and trajectories with which we have no fucking clue if they exist or not. They don't fucking connect. There is no correlation. 1st, 2nd, 3rd world... all defined; NATO level defined.
Your new interpretation... Kuiper belt objects.... you're making up your own terms bro.... nobody fucking sat down... called a council... arose a summit... you're just bullshitting because you think the vernacular has changed over time.
Name yours. As I said, they're the very same people. I mean, seriously, what do you think? Like there's an official committee defining those things? Being the american idiot you are, I'd better not recommend wikipedia, as you're not allowed to use it as a source in an exam or a school paper. It would precisely answer your question though.

PLEASE get some sleep and enough water. You come across pretty... dehydrated...
I was REEEEAAAALLLY drunk. I don't know what the hell this convo was even about... I see Pluto and orbits... and I'm just... I'm not gonna re-read this... My head hurts.
@pokethebear I also already commented that first world wasn’t a great word for it. But the meaning has changed a lot, and I think you know what I mean.
Looked him up, it appears that he lives in Los Angeles and Berlin, probably moving locations. I don't agree with either of these people, but one can criticise what one is part of.
If he claims to be American why does he say “your country” instead of “our country”. If he’s claiming to be German he most certainly has no moral high ground from which to cast aspersions. If he claims neither nation as home and just lives there he’s a hypocrite and living proof of part of the claim.
Germany as a nation certainly won't claim a moral high ground. There are not many countries around where public acceptance of unflattering historic facts is so widely accepted as here. Most people don't think in terms of guilt, but rather responsibility. That's one of the things I'm really fond of germany. This being said, I wouldn't see myself as part of a group that primarily defines itself as german. I'm pretty glad to be a german, but I'm not proud of it. First of all I can't help it, where I was born. Also, like most people, germans have pretty nice and pretty revolting sides, and I have no time for people who only claim the good ones. I can be a member of a society but not part of it's main culture. So could Amir, and maybe even in two societies at a time.
Both of these men are wrong. America certainly has a culture, and it was built on those bad things, but so were many other places that have culture. America is not the most prosperous, accepting, or generous, and saying it is better than other places is more a matter of opinion.
I love this country. And it is grat in some aspects but we can do better in may othera too. In my opinion just saying America is #1 period, may make people not be so open and see that other countries have some things we can about too.
Well that's what I mean. In comparison to other country I have lived it is GREAT!! Like infrastructure, stability, safety (on average where I live) but other countries I feel could offer the same. And I went to college/ university in the US and I am very thankful of being here and having the opportunity i have had, but college education was ok. Some subjects I needed to take, I had seen in high school in my home country. It does get fun that u can get credits for a yoga class and Schools are great at the graduate level but way too expensive really. That is one of the things I think could improve in the US as well as health care.
Side note: i have ashtrays defended the fact that if you want to go to school you can (financial aid, scholarship, loans) you just have to plan it and work hard but sometimes it is too crazy expensive
Ha! Heck no. My point always was it has good things and things that can be way better. I never said it is 100% great. So you were asking the wrong person anyways.
America is by far not all alone in the free country department . America's Constitution is an experiment that has worked well for most people since slavery ended. England , France, Austrailia,Germany are examples of free countries. We all have different freedoms and restrictions in our laws. There's too much bullshit , political crap, that is shit out of media sites that create the animosities between allies. I think if the folks aurguing on this post were face to face in a bar or caffe, they would probably get along as they discus the good in bad of each others homeland. Sorry. I had to edit my comment to add Canada to the list of free counties, sorry , so sorry lol
@itsamermaria I actually get what you mean. This one dude in my college Calc 1 class was an absolute beast. Could only speak in half sentences when it came to English because he was learning it... he was from Eastern Africa (not even gonna pretend I remember the country).. but they were teaching him the ideas that made calculus easy for him YEARS before.... about the same time I was taking pre-cal in HS (about 9th grade)...
I literally forgot all the stupid sin/cos/tan rules when ^2'rd or divided and shit... all those formulas... dude didn't need them. He saw them how I see ratios. I can do some nasty stuff with anything geometric... but not circles and not wavelengths. Dude was taught radians the same time he was learning degree angles; that would have gone a long way for 80% of the population here stateside; no idea why we don't do that.
Yeah. Honestly i struggled with math, physics, chemistry. I'd say i was bad at it, but i was getting decent grades just working hard. In college i would get all As in those subjects. People thought I was a genius lol (because we kinda had shitty professors and I didn't study THAT much) , but no, I just remembered from HS
Amir is an Persian name. I hope hes not forgetting the millions of Europeans that were enslaved and killed by Islamic countries between the 8th and 15th century. I heard they built all of the middle east and northern Africa. If you're talking about Slavery, historically, no one has done it better than the middle east. My dads also Persiqn and even he says that the United States has a clean origin story, compared to his country.

The big difference is in the relation of someones action and the current ethics. A lot has happened after the 15th century, and the people of the 18/th/19th centuries claimed different ethics and values than centuries before. Slavery before and after the age of the Enlightenment wasn't really the same
First, I like how Amir points out that this country's founding has issues but he doesn't deny the claim of prosperity, generosity and acceptance.
.
Second, it wasn't genocide, it was a war that was fought for the same reasons as almost every other war in history (land occupancy).
.
Third, slavery was over long before the real "building of America", aka industrial revolution, ever happened.

I think he means how we treated the natives in the genocide bit.
Eh, the industrial revolution was actually in full effect by the time slavery was abolished in the US. I wouldn't say that it really matters anyway since it happened before the 20th century. Just don't spread misinformation like that.
The whole point is that we can do better and not BECOME that.
