Math is a universal language because it's a language like no other. It's a science based language. Everything about mathematics is scientifically created to describe our universe. If we ever meet an alien species, then we will share math in common even if we have no idea what those strange symbols are.
Funnily enough, our computers will probably be near duplicates of each other. Binary is the best/easiest way to create a computer is with a few trillion on/off switches. It's not too useful really, but it's fucking cool to realize.
Yup. Math and physics should be the same assuming they’re from our universe. But they may not use a base 10 number system depending on whether they have 10 fingers and toes - if they even have fingers and toes.
Why are we best with a base 5 sytem ? I assume number of fingers, but do you have a study or something that talks / proves ? (genuinely interested in reading about it)
Humans are best at recognizing a sum of four to five things at a time. An example that is commonly used is the tally mark. It's mildly insignificant when you replace it with a number, but if we look at our brain and how we recognize things, then the tally marks would be the deal.
the bigger question lies in their application of mathematics. sure, they've discovered that the ratio of the radius to circumference is pi, but what have they learned and applied that to? do they have different fields specializing in mathematics? what about physics/kinematics? how has it influenced their architecture and engineering?
This makes the reasonable assumption that the laws of physics that we have are the same as what they have. However, there is reason to also assume that outside our gravity well the universe may operate a bit differently. In fact it may have completely different rules altogether in some places. Then there is always the fun possibility that 2+2 only equals 4 because we don't actually understand enough to know that it in fact doesn't.
