I understand it helps identify two similar looking snakes one of which is poisonous one isn't (used to be really interested into those as a kid) but I the memory helps just seem gibberish to me

Uh coral snakes are super venomous. They just have super short fangs that often wont penetrate.

That's different than what we used. Red touches yellow its a deadly fellow, red touches black its a friendly jack.
