Maybe it's just me, but I tend to doubt any sort of news that is written so poorly.

I agree, but it seems legitimate: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/inspired-life/wp/2017/02/01/a-sick-toddler-needed-a-liver-so-her-new-nanny-donated-part-of-hers/?utm_term=.17dd8b5e6f0f

Is it that badly written? I didn't notice anything.

Sometimes both parents are not a match.

More often than you'd think too. It's an awful sight to see the realization on their faces that they can't do anything themselves to help their child

Honestly I would do the same. The liver is such an amazing organ. We can just donate part of it and it will grow into a full liver for both parts. If only all our organs did this.

i love it how the whole thing just keeps reastablishing how absolutely abnormally odd it was for that girl to stick to her decision to donate. i'm like.. y'all bitches just couldn't believe she'd do it? even after she'd done it, did you still go like 'hey miles you didn't just donate a piece of your liver to our kid did you?'. it comes off utterly condescending.

Why wouldn’t the parents donate? A familial liver would have a much lower chance of rejection. And it’s their own child. So like. ?????

maybe take the time to read the comments above you before making a new one. That has already been stated and has already been explained

Off the top of my head: neither parent was a match, health problems that made their livers less viable, health conditions that could make surgery too risky, might've donated part of their liver already, etc. I think any of these are more likely than a parent not doing everything they can to save their sick child.

That’s truly a great story...why the potato heart at the end? “I know what’ll make this feel heartwarming. A potato carving. Now it’s complete.”

Long posts are typically rewarded with the gift of a potato at the end to make the long read worth it - I’m guessing the fact that it’s carved into a heart is an added bonus due to the feels of this particular post.
