Well he did kill a woman and a puppy. Yeah he didn't mean to. but he still did it. He would more than likely do it again and again. He is just to strongest for his child like mind.
As for George killing Lenny you need to understand George shot Lenny because what that linch mob wanted to do to Lenny was far worse than being shot.
Lenny went peacefully and quickly. Thinking good happy thoughts.
The linch mob would of given him a long painful fear filled death.
George is the hero. Sadly Lenny was not. He wasn't the victim either he was more like the one the readers hope to have a happy ending but it just can't come true.
George saved Lenny from pain and torture. There was no way they could of run or hide from that linch mob. It was just a matter of time till they caught them. At that time in history even if they didn't kill him and just arrested him. Lenny wouldn't be treated as a mentally challenged person he would of been killed in prison just like John Coffey was in The Green Mile. They didn't know that much of how to treat people with mental disabilities.
He would of been trialed as an adult and put to death in the electric chair or by hanging.
So he would die scared and full of pain.
George saved Lenny from pain and fear. He is a hero. Sometimes being a hero isn't as simple as having a happy ending. Sometimes it is making sure that they don't let the worse happen.
It be like if a husband and wife are attacked by a zombie and it bites the wife. She says kill me before I turn zombie. So the husband does. He was a hero for not letting his wife suffer as a zombie.
What you don't understand is this book/movies did have a hero it just didn't have a bad guy. Yeah the wife shouldn't of tried to get Lenny to have sex with her, yeah the linch mob shouldn't of chased them and just tried to arrest them. Lenny isn't to blame he just doesn't know his own strength. And so on.
No one is at blame for what happen. So there is no bad guy.
Just alot of missunderstandings. But to say George isn't a hero is wrong. Because like I said he protected Lenny from a terrible fate.
Thank you Mscollector people always assume and are used to the idea that in order to be a hero there has to be a bad guy. I loved the book very much for not having a fairy tale ending and for it's time setting it is true. Those with disabilities were seen as crazy incurable people.
Oh, please. If my wife got bit by a zombie she wouldn’t ask me to kill her. She’d yell at me for not getting bit at the same time so we can be zombies together.
Well he isn't really short he is 5'9 just John Malkovich is 6'0 and gangly so he tends to make Gary Sinise seem shorter.
But beside that you watched the wrong one by far the best one is the 1981 in my opinion it gets the characters closest to the book. Or even the 1939 version is better than the 1991 if you don't mind black and white.
