There is one creature that has a slightly worse sting than the tarantula hawk wasp, and that is polistes carnifex, also known as the executioner wasp

First off my oldest brother is DEADLY AFRAID OF SPIDERS! I mean scream like a 1920s house wife on a chair scared lol. I lived with my oldest brother in Az Tuscon. Home of this little winged bastards and their dinner tarantulas. So one day my brother is headed to work. Goes to his car and I am in the apartment when I hear this woman scream echo though the apartments. Than my brother runs inside slamming the door behind him muttering "they can fly now" I say "what?" He screams "THEY CAN FLY NOW THEY HAVE WINGS ONE NEARLY KILLED ME! IT LOOKED LIKE THIS!" Than he bared his teeth and spread his arms out as far as he could and came running at me. I laughed and it took a while till he told me it was a tarantula with wings lol. I went outside to get his keys because when it came at him he threw them at it. I found his "monster" it was the wasp stuck to a tarantula both dead. He hit them mid flight. After that for months he carried a rolled up magzine incase he sees another one. Lmfao
I've read a similar article to that one, and if you were wondering what it said to do in such a case, it is literally to lie down and scream it out because the pain is so immense, you probably won't be able to do anything else and if you try to stay standing, you'll probably fall over anyways and hurt yourself even more.

But the paralysis thing isn't exactly unique-- iirc yellowjackets do the same thing with caterpillars
