Meme culture isn't loneliness. It's quite the opposite, I find it moreso as uber-connectedness. Like a lone tree in the paddock, but it's roots go down, way down and feed off the same water and soil as other trees far away. They dont inherently know of each other's existence, but they're all thriving off the same life force.
It's when you're surrounded by people but don't connect to them. You look at them but you don't see any profound bound between you in their eyes. When you speak about what matters to you, they get the words but not their meaning. That is how you can be alone in a crowd.
