I've mentioned this in another post. My teacher used the example of a prisoner of war, trying to contact his allies. The enemy is torturing and planning to kill him, and he manages to get a message to his commanding officer asking if he should risk trying to escape by himself or wait for aid.

Comma is the difference between:
"No, help is coming"
And
"No help is coming."
The Oxford comma is far from a universal necessity. Context is key: we know that Nelson Mandela isn't famous for his dildos, so why should we think that he his? Having the comma does make it easier, but pieces like this are made purposefully silly. Also, a lot of academic papers written in English by people whose first language isn't English omits them.
