We want flowers not out of obligation but out of genuine feeling.

I don't like getting flowers.
I like flowers when I see them growing in a field or on the side of the road or whatever. But that's where they're supposed to be, y'know? Not cut and slowly dying in a vase.
Besides, what the fuck would I do with a flower? Give me chocolate instead. Or, if you want to give me something to admire, give me an art piece. Yours, preferably. I don't appreciate gifts out of obligation, if you really want to show you care, put some more thought into it than "I'll get her a flower because that's the conventional thing to do". I'd rather receive one gift with some thought put into it than a thousand flowers. That's also why I don't really like celebrating my birthday, or even Christmas I don't enjoy very much.
