Our house names were always Christian Saints, I would have much preferred an attractive dragon

I went to Catholic school that had a house system, except there were 7 houses not 4 bc it was big, but there was a lot of house loyalty. At pep rally's itd be like "our saint had visions of the future!" "yeAHH??? Well ours could BILOCATE"

No, at least not in Australia. It's more like something to promote kinship and belonging to something within the school. Also helped with competitiveness when sports day and stuff came around

We didn’t have “houses” but we did have something similar. It was like having 4 schools in one.

I had never even considered this could be a possibility in the real world. I wouldn't even be more taken aback if you told me your school had a hippogriff.

Pretty sure you'll find most countries that used to be British colonies have this house within school system.

We just had colors in my London school. And the American School I went to in Nigeria had American presidents, for some reason. The inter-house hatred was very real, though.
