I knew that wasn't what it truly looked like. It just didn't seem possible for it to live like that. It does look seriously hurt.

Now I feel bad for all the times I laughed at how hideous it was.

What is this fish called?

It’s not about being pulled up rapidly, but the lack of pressure at above sea levels

The first picture is a blob fish in a Japanese aquarium not in the ocean. The spines formed after it was brought to the surface. The other picture is what it looks like in it's natural habitat.
