Also, we are paid to educate ourselves =)
And not, it's not a loan.
However, you can choose to get a study loan but it has the lowest rates possible - it's one of the cheapest loans to apply for and doesn't cripple you financially for decades to come.
The difference after tax may be small but it would probably work out at around $150 a year in your pocket. Plus (and I can't stress this strongly enough) FREE HEALTHCARE AT THE POINT OF CONTACT! The govt is, quite sensibly, asking companies to pay a wage that allows someone on minimum wage to contribute to the social security of the nation. High tax is only an issue if companies are not required to pay a living wage. Legislating for that means that companies (via staff wages) will end up paying into the country they are making profit in.
Yeah... The government hasn't implemented a minimum wage.. They're not the ones who ask companies to meet these 'requirements'. Unions and 'overenskomst' in Denmark are what enable high wages. This is mirrored in either Scandinavian countries. The bargaining power that comes from a lack of legislation regarding wages is why Denmark is not in favour of an EU-imposed minimum wage.

-all the "free" stuff comes from higher taxes
-denmark has a population of about 5 million, roughly 1/60th of the population of the USA
-remarkably low diversity leads to remarkably low conflict
-Denmark can direct tax money to all those pro-social programs because they don't pay much for defense. As a member of NATO, they receive a lot of protection from the USA and UK who have higher defense budgets and contribute more defense to NATO
wow that's amazing 22 dollars an hour minimum wage and getting all the teachers doctors and day care workers to do all those jobs without pay so people can have free health care. we really should all follow there lead. Can't believe people still fall for this bull shit.
thats the point. the point is pointing out that health care isnt free because the people doing the work arent doing it for free and have to get paid for it somehow
Ah. I think I read it wrong the first time through. Maybe the term “free healthcare” is a bad one. Maybe “free of charge at the time of service” would be more accurate. The Danish don’t care about higher taxes because their priority isn’t take-home income. They don’t value fancy cars or big houses. They prefer comfort. There’s a word for it. I will see if I can find it.
Ranked happiness? By the UN? Two stupids don't make a smart.

It’s ranked by cases of mental dissatisfaction/illness per capita. Like let’s say someone there has depression- they will be ranked as “unhappy”, but without a huge workload with little pay and medical coverage to help them through therapy or even anti-anxiety/depression(like Zoloft) medication,. Their overall mental state will be in a better place. They do it based off of registered mental evaluation. I can’t explain it well haha, but there is a science behind how they rank it
Oh famousone, is it so hard to believe that people are happier elsewhere? And that global health insurance, paid maternity leave, free education, less working hours and high salaries can influence happiness?
I know I might sound redundant, but there are many political and economical systems in place in this world which are scientifically proven superior to the US. Get over it.
"scientifically proven" is a hella overstatement. If you could link the peer reviewed proper source for that claim before throwing around "scientifically proven" that would be great
I doubt you will convince @famousone that a people can be both the Nordic brand of happy and also free. There is some very solid science behind ranking happiness. A lot of it has to do with social cohesion and trust in your culture. American Freedom is many times defined as the ability to independently control one’s destiny, by force if necessary. Nordic happiness is due in many ways with their socialist democracy. They don’t value displays of wealth, or working long hours, or anything “competitive”. They tend to be, on the whole, satisfied with what they have. That runs contrary with the American Dream.
