I know someone who proudly exclaims that they are not "reasonable" and that they can "feel" what's true. Whenever I try to scientifically explain something, they act like I've just personally attacked them.
Once we had a discussion about whether disease is scientific, or as they believe, caused by aliens taking over human bodies.
Honest to god, they frustrate me to my limits.
@lihea "Intransigence" is the word to describe that type of attitude. It can be infuriating to have an intransigent of person in your life. Someone in my immediate family is like that. I love them but it's surreal to sit there and not defend my values and beliefs because I know it's not worth the argument that will ensue.
