Don't they need equipment like this to mine the materials to make the batteries for electric vehicles?

Caterpillar now sells entirely electric dump trucks, many of which, doesn't need to recharge since the regenerative braking supplies enough energy to take the empty truck back up the hill.

Lithium batteries degrade pretty hard in large machines like that and lithium is a hella limited resource.

Yes, the running costs of this truck are high, and can harm the environment. But there's a metric fuck-tonne more cars running around than these things, so if everyone switched to a Prius, a difference would be made. Everyone got that "other people don't do it so why should I" attitude tho.

I’ve always wondered where Prius owners recharge the car though. I know loads of them have it in their garage but what about city or off the grid types? I’m down for the advancement and advantages but I don’t see how practical car charging is on a mass scale

There are a hella of charging stations, a lot are tesla specific tho. A tesla can make it from one coast to the other in the US off of charging stations.

As someone who drives an EV, in the city there are a bunch of charging stations so that's usually not a problem. Driving back to my parents house in rural Ohio it's a bit more barren, but the range of most EVs are a lot better now and I can always plug in at their house. Plus there are a decent amount of free charging stations, which is super nice since you'd be hard pressed to find a free gas station lol

The truck pictured has a 250 ton capacity and will work 12 hours on that one tank of fuel. 4 round trips per hour works to 12,000 tons. How many priuses will it take to replace it for one shift?

The electric dump truck with regenerative braking is half this truck in size and somehow drives up a hill to get filled and down when loaded. What kind of mineral mine is on top of a hill? I'm guessing 99% of mines have truck drive down into the pit / quarry empty and up loaded. So regenerative braking won't work.

Regenerative braking would work, it just wouldn't be as beneficial. (I was wondering the same thing though)
