I think the worst skid mark I got was when I was on my bike and I was drifting into our gravel driveway and the bike slid out from under me. I thought I was fine so I ran inside but then my ankle starting stinging. I looked down and my entire sock was bloody and their was gravel stuck inside my leg along with a nice skid mark up my ankle.
I've never heard anyone refer to that type of injury as a "skid mark." That is something different. We'd either say "scraped me knee" or maybe "brush burns." Maybe a regional thing?
That's pretty interesting, I guess where I'm from we always called it a skid mark cause you got them whenever you fell off your skateboard or something and skidded along the asphalt.
I have faded scars on my knees from falling over a lot as a kid.

Also, it's *we were, so maybe OP should've spent less time outside, and more in class ;P
God damn I remember the time I was pushed into the asphalt and my knees and hands looked like hell boy. Also that time I thought I could totally sit on a plastic storage container and it snapped stabbing me all down my legs. I can’t wait to protect kids from the horrors of my childhood. A little pain is okay but getting shanked at 7 really ain’t the move
Soooooo I live in a country that has constant flat land. Not a hill or anything ever. Went abroad and rented a bicycle to explore a huge park and then discovered that when you’re going down a steep hill and you press the front brake, you’re throwing yourself head-first, over the handlebars and onto the asphalt at the accelerated speed you were moving at. Not a limb was spared as I skinned everything that came into contact. I couldn’t sleep properly for days on account of the pain
